Pre-Modern-Pop-Music in the styles of the years from 1920 - 1950 (Swing, Big Band, ...).
Well we can't save them as MP3 or Oggs. We'll have to exchange wax cylinders.

BTW, I kinda did this back in May and it worked out great for me!

:hihi:

Precisely... It'll give the weeeezils a chance this month :hihi:
Music with dinner is an insult both to the cook and the violinist.

Nah, I'm thinking more The Cure, The Jesus and Mary Chain, PhZ, etc :hihi:

I guess that means no more than three chords and definitly no modulations. Are we allowed to use slash chords?

I remember. I was wondering how someone could make such an oldfashioned song. :hihi:

Hmm, I don't think PhZ explicitly meant 'no jazz allowed', just that he didn't want it to be the theme ;)

Regarding slash chords, probably this type would be allowed:

i'd like to see a theme like "Variations" in the classical sense.

first you introduce a motive, and then you repeat the motive in a varied manner, and you do it as many times as it is possible in 2min (with a proper ending).

you could use this form with all kind of style, jaath, tarnce, 80's or britpop, etc.

could be fun.

How about 'my end is my beginning and my beginning is my end'? Palindromic tracks. Not talking about having songs whose second halfs are exact reverses of the first, just approximately, and it might resolve some questions about whether the songs were composed for the contest or not. :)

Yeah it could be fun. But what about, say.. PIRATE MUSIC? :dog: With motive variations and no slash chords or madonna samples.
