Just for the record, I sure suffer from my own share of stupidity.
Only one example : Like with many Boogies, the switching jack of my Heartbreaker's FX loop is flaky. No big deal, works perfectly with FX plugged in or bridged with a patch cord.
Without a cable however it gives you all kinds of phenomena, noises, volume fading etc, at irregular intervals ...
You'd think in over 12 years of having this little issue I'd have invested 15 mins in putting in a new jack, or at least grown used to it.
Think again.
Last week it caught me off guard once more ...
Had played with a delay, removed it without putting back the patch cable, a week later I was shocked by the volume fading in and out - took me 5 mins to remember and 5 sec to plug in a cable.
Thus I reserve the right to make fun of other folks' little mistakes, believe me, I know what I'm talking about.
Peace,
susiwrong

Nice steal there Hink
Someone i know has an Ibanez HSS with an invader at the bridge and its a fine sounding metal machine. Not an expensive or even mid-range model but as soon as the invader went in and we set it up properly it became a very respectable down-tuned tone machine. I forgot about that model. It is the one with oversized hexagonal or allen key adjustable pole pieces yes? Pretty damned powerful with not a battery in sight that one

Ditto hibidy - its all good friendly fun and grown men (susposedly) making school boy error's deserve it, do we not?
Edit: Plus if everybody took themselves dead seriously, everyone would be making epic minimal progressive trance and labelling ourselve's as 'Producers'. Trance producer's don't know what they are missing from the toolshed terrors department

The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

My next guitar is the one that I see and can afford. I've got upwards of 30, so its kind of hard to justify a new one at this point. Nevertheless-has anyone seen those new Knaggs guitars Joe Knaggs is cranking out? I haven't laid my paws on one yet, but they look sweet. And knowing Knaggs, who used to be Paul Smith's right hand man, they're probably pretty killer.

Atm they don't really trigger my GAS module though, not sure why.
Looks like they're built from a "furniture collector's" point of view, haven't seen any special player-oriented innovations so far.
And exclusive, exotic woods and craftsmanship don't automatically make a better sounding or playing instrument.
After years of pretty so-so instruments PRS seem to do lots of things right atm for us players, and mostly at much more reasonable prices than these newcomers.
We'll see if there's more to them than luxury ...
Btw, some stuff that impressed me lately :
- the wonderful combination of "player's favourites" details on the PRS DGT
- still the best non-locking trem concept - the PRS with their locking tuners
- the great choice of useful neck options Warmoth are offering, including the still-too-rare compound radius and a cool truss rod adjustment system
- the dummy-coil system on the cheapo Vintage Thomas Blug signature strat which sounds amazing while being silent except for the middle position
- the clever Vibramate No-Drill Bigsby Mounting Plate
- David Barfuss P-90s (A2)
- some Ibanez Floyd Rose type improvements I'm no expert for
I'd like to see more of this kind of stuff in a new line of guitars, and it wouldn't bother me at all if they were housed in a bog standard alder Strat or all mahogany LP Jr/Special type guitar as long as good, resonant wood is used.
Just saying, ymmv,
susiwong

Ok, after reading the Premier Guitar interview with Knaggs there are some detail innovations / specials in bridges and neck shapes.
Still not completely sold on the price-performance ratio, as well as the too-boutique concept.
Again ymmv,
susiwong

Welb---I went looking around and I ended up buying--yes, on top of all that other stuff
--a black nickle set of floyd rose licensed trem bridge--http://www.gpdusa.com/Guitar_Parts_Depo ... ensed.html
On top I found another pickup set for the 'frankenthing': EMG 'Kerry King' pickemups--http://www.gpdusa.com/Guitar_Parts_Depot-EMG-1.html
I'm checking my plunge router as we type this out
