Incidentally, does anyone get a 2files missing" pop-up sometimes when loading CS2 strings with TVEC 4? The files missing seem to be unrelated to CS2.I think they are related to maybe the symphony lib. Which sounds like a bug to me.

Show me a screenshot of the 2 missing files, and make sure you tell me exactly which instrument is asking for the missing samples, and I'll get to it.

That was a typo actually it's more like 148 files. Here's 2 screens shots
from when I load Cellos from CS2.







If I click "skip missing the patch still loads". Also it only happen when first loading. I have a feeling the missing files are unrelated to CS2.

Ok, so I might have missed or forgotten exactly what the TVEC 3 issue was in the woods during the melé of my having to move, break down the studio, and rebuild it from scratch. So gimme the list, and I'll do the best I can!

it's good to hear from you. Good luck with your new studio. The issue with the TVEC3 woodwinds was:
a) a sound quality much worse than with the original patches
b) the referencing of trumpet sounds in the TVEC3 patches (maybe one of the causes for a)

you can find some examples of the Diamond English Horn here (I just created a very simple midi file, not using any keyswitches; included reverb was deactivated with all examples, I used a convolution reverb vst instead):

(This is the original version included in Diamond, and it sounds imo quite good. I just loaded the patch as it comes, no settings tweaked)

(In this example I loaded the tvec3 version of the English Horn. I can here a glitch which is most likely created by intervalive)

(Here, I deactovated intervalive and the glitch was gone. But soundwise in comparison to the vpro-version imo: night and day. the clear winner is the original patch)

(Here I tried if I could achieve by tweaking the tvec3-patch the same sound as in the vpro-example - but failed)

I really wonder how much better the original patch sounds. Maybe, I am doing something wrong, but it seems that (at least out of the box) tvec3 is not always good. So it's great that we also have the original patches.

vcs hpc half
vcs hpc quarter

Oh yes, now I remember. I'll look into it. But it's most likely that it's the increased RR that's the culprit. Maybe what I can do is have the RR only engage on the short/fast notes, and leave the long sustains alone? Also, I'll look into the trumpet samples being referenced. It might be in name only, but I'll check.

Thanks for the hint. It seems I hadn't unzipped those two folders during the original install which is why they weren't showing up. All is fine now

I'm having difficulty getting Diamond strings to synchronize with my song. There's delay, I guess, because of the fast bpm of 163. Accent is set to 127, and so on, and staccato is on too. Are there any other ways to increase accuracy?

Is this "delay" constant? I mean is it just a matter of being the same amount behind the beat all the time? Or does the amount change?

It's not really a software issue or delay (I was just trying to describe it.) I'm attempting to create a fast=paced song, but the violin can't keep up with the tempo, as if it were sloppily played.

I'm attempting to assign the violins to some of the baselines played later in this test file (at higher octaves):

I listened to the cue. You should not have any problem getting the violins to play solidly with that. Try this:

Make sure you choose an accented articulation such as AccentFF
Sett Attack to 0
Set Accent to 127
Set VelHPC to 0
AttkSens to 0
Make sure you don't "overlap" notes which will trigger SmartLegato. If you need to overlap notes, then set the LegAttk to 0

All right, that didn't seem to work at all.

Notice what happens. settings are all set as described, nothing else can be changed. Articulation: Accent FF

The violin plays too slowly, but I'm not interested in a staccato.:

Sounds like the attack is ok, but there is too much swell. Can you send me the midi file? If you happen to be using Logic, then send me that instead.
