Annual Subscription for Iris Presets Iris 2

Post

Also I am noticing a lot of zipper noises when automating the Macros in Iris 2, especially when they are assigned to volume, FX amount and filter cutoff, the interpolation seemed much better in Iris 1 with no zipper noises occurring.

Another important tip:
When converting Iris 1 -> 2 patches which have the samples embedded in the preset (like in all my subscription patches), one has to use the "Export"-function, a simple re-save to the new iris2-format will de-embed the samples and result in "samples not found"-errors when reloading the newly saved patch.

Yeah, still not tempted into "upgrading" while Iris 2 is in such a cocked-up state.

Sampleconstruct wrote:I just opened a patch with the broken Sample%Hold LFO in Iris 2 and a miracle occurred, it is now working, I mean actually modulating, only the speed control via the assigned Macro is not working. So this must be some telepathic update iZotope were sending out, all subscribers try e.g. my patch Alien Noise 01, turn up the Modwheel and please check if it is also working on your end.

How strange, so the extra hold-LFO-bug was only coded for 2014 but not for 2015? LOLZ…
But strangely in other patches the Sample&Hold LFO is not modulating as it should and it just produces the extra hold and not the sample part. Another weird Iris 2 phenomena this is.
So it stopped working again, after reloading a patch in which the S&H LFO worked a few minutes ago (Alien Noise 01) it is now broken again - sigh.
It has been confirmed, that the on/off functionality of the random LFO is erratic and it seems to be difficult to fix the code for this issue. So it's a double random LFO, it sometimes randomizes and sometimes it doesn't and just holds without sampling, a grammy award for this bug! (plus the lost functionality for controlling the speed of the S&H LFO with any controller, but that bug is not that classy).

For real? Their code can't distinguish between a 1 and a 0, chooses a value randomly, and they don't know how to fix it.

Oh dear. Things are even worse than I thought.

Logic error in one of their conditional statements, most likely.

Finding these things can take time depending on the length/condition of their code.

Working my way through the patch conversion from Iris 1->2 I find it annoying, how every former modulation value is just being ignored by Iris 2. When the Modwheel was set to LFO depth 11%, it defaults to 50% making vibrato assignments totally ridiculous, when a square-shaped LFO modulating pitch was set to 50% in Iris 1 resulting in an octave tremolo it is now set to an octave and a triton, when a Macro controlling filter resonance was set to 30% it defaults to 50% and so on. Also the exponential scaling of the Macro knobs seems wrong as the slopes are very exponential, too much change is occurring in the first third of the knob range. This renders Macro automations in projects which used Iris 1 unusable when loading the respective patch in Iris 2.

All of this makes the conversion pretty annoying and tedious, but it's happening.

Wow. That's got to suck all your creative energy. :(

I set myself a maximum of 1-2 hours a day for this task, so it's a bit like a workout in the gym (less fun though).

Are iZotope still actually working on improvements for patch conversion from v1 ->v2 ?

Or have they decided that this is as good as it's going to get?

It won't get any better, let them fix those Iris bugs and then work on Ozone 7 getting rid of some more features.

Maybe they'll be too distracted working on Alchemy to remove some more stuff from Ozone/Iris. :hihi:

LOL - but I don't believe in that buyout-myth, there are many better options on the takeover-speculation-list, I think it was Adidas.

Nah, me either... was just intended as a bit of light-hearted relief to help deal with a pretty shitty situation.

Not so sure, was just shopping for some new Polka-DJ shoes and saw this new model...
