Tone2 policy is that synths bought from places other than them (their site) cannot be resold. So the price at best service might be cheap now - buy it, but then try to sell your license... and you will hit the wall.fmr wrote: Thu Nov 28, 2019 11:42 amI wasn't expecting that. I was expecting somethin about 50 euros, eventually 60 euros. 80 euros is way more than what I was expecting. I think I will refrain to update right now too (although I was looking forward to test the new features)tatanka wrote: Thu Nov 28, 2019 6:53 am Yes and as a Ikarus 1 owner I now feel finally rippedof with the upgrade prize:
- 89 € for Tone2 Ikarus1 NEW from Bestservice including upgrade to version 2
- 79 € for upgrading from 1 to 2, no intro prize, no BF, nothing![]()

No offense Markus. But, I'll be curious if Icarus 2 will ever be 199 €. The other Tone2 synths seem to be on a permanent "discount"...Markus Krause wrote: Thu Nov 28, 2019 2:58 pm There will be an introduction price. Icarus2 will be available for €149 istead of €199.
Anyway, 199 € is a pretty ridiculous price anyway. Again, no offense, but, I would never pay that much for a soft synth. It's your decision, but, I'm sure you'd sell many more copies with a bit more sensible pricing. Just my opinion.

Please note that what I write here does not refer to you or any of your your above answers in this thread.
Icarus2 will be the final synth that i will release. After whis one there will be only free updates and soundsets.
- I want to have more time for my family
- I got health issues, because of the high stress level in my job
- Big parts of the community are toxic
- I've developed audio-software for 25 years now. I want to do something else in my life
- The market is over-saturated and it is difficult to sell the products

I feel sympathetic with you, and your will to have more time for your family. If you can do it, it's the right thing to do. Your synths are between the most special if not the most special and unique in the entire market, the market is saturated but there is no synth able to do many of the synthesis techniques your synths does, that's why your synths are really unique. perhaps it might be difficult to sell but with some competitive prices (compared with the software market right now) there will be more sales and there will be always a place for Tone2.Markus Krause wrote: Thu Nov 28, 2019 3:20 pm Please note that what I write here does not refer to you or any of your your above answers in this thread.

I will certainly upgrade to version 2 for whatever price Markus announces, this synth and this developer have to be supported.

This is still a normal price for a synth in my opinion.
Of course today you can have extremely good stuff for (next to) nothing, but €199 is nothing out of the ordinary, though everyone has different standards.
It's also what you get for your money. I personally don't feel i overpaid when i got Reaktor 5 for 400 (or was it 500?) Euros back in 2005 or so, but i feel ridiculed when i see what Plugin Alliance (cough, Oberhausen, cough) or Universal Audio are charging for their stuff (unless PA is doing one of their now regular sales for 30-60 Euros to take the piss of their most loyal customers).
Those have insane prices (imo of course, maybe to others their pricings are about right)
Regarding your (Markus's) future: seems you could do much worse than finishing a career with something like Icarus 2.
I never tried any of your other products, but Icarus 1 was/is really great to me and i'm looking forward to buying it's successor as soon as possible.
Hope you become well soon, as other's have mentioned, there's more important things in life than your job.
And to continue doing some updates here and there afterwards is a nice gift to us.
Thank you for your great work, even though i'm not even one of your most loyal customers here with just one product from you.
We're taking too much for granted these days

have used all the tone2 synths (icarus is my favorite); totally understand what you're saying (kvr'ers know what a toxic community sometimes looks like).Markus Krause wrote: Thu Nov 28, 2019 3:20 pm Please note that what I write here does not refer to you or any of your your above answers in this thread.
