Honestly - nobody needs 8 bit? This is only due to a lack of creativity. Remember Justin Timberlake/50 Cent - ayo technology? Nobody used that sound at that time. But it worked perfectly. You just need to do it.

I do remember it very well. So you have one song, made 10 years ago, and using one "computer-y" sound, to justify 2 full expansions?Warehouseparty wrote:Remember Justin Timberlake/50 Cent - ayo technology?
Well, that really depends on how much music you know. If you dig a little bit deeper into the elektro scene in Germany (Kittin & The Hacker rings any bells?) you will find out that it was well established already before 2000s. The you have all the electrohouse mainstream craze () that lasted until around 2005/6 in Europe, and they all used some sort of "computer-y" sounds. Where do you think Timbaland got inspired? Everything in Europe's clubs since early 2000s was inspiration for pop music. This is how mainstream edm/bigroom was born.Warehouseparty wrote:Nobody used that sound at that time.
I will explain why many don't need them: Lack of creativity is when you don't know how to make a handful of 8-bit-like sounds in case you really need them (get a square, do squar-y stuff). Or sample and mangle some shots. That's creativity. You simply don't need more, if these sounds are not the focus in your productions, if you don't make for a living music which is heavy based on this type of sounds (I'm thinking soundracks for tv or games etc.).Warehouseparty wrote:Honestly - nobody needs 8 bit? Edit: OK, I see you're from Germany. Get a music history book ffs, a huge amount of iconic electronic music comes from your very own country.

I don't need to justify any expansions, since I don't build them. I'm just saying you could and can use the sound. "Technology" was meant as the most prominent "recent" mainstream song, I am aware people are using those sounds even today.
Coming to your "you could do this yourself": of course you could. The same goes for every sound. But there are people, which like to use existing sounds and make music by using and editing them. Nobody will invent its own piano, they just use what is there.
This leads to a my personal idea of the Vengeance business: I guess msvs is doing what he thinks he needs to do. Either people are buying or they won't - this is when he will adapt to the market or vanish. Same goes for Apple, Amazon, BMW, SAP...you name it. And as far as I can see the market is still present. (Even if personally I don't like the current market at all and would love orchestral expansions - but that's only me.)

Errr... how about those 50 videos Manuel has done for Avenger teaching his skills?!!!Wavegem wrote:These guys are preset pushers. Manuel you could be a real asset here teaching people your skills instead doing this bait and switch
Sigh.
Thanks for the genre comments Sircuit. I really don’t keep up with the details, but broadly it confirms what I thought. The last genre that entered my consciousness as something that sounded distinct from anything that came before was Trap I guess (not that it itself was truly original, but broadly it sounded like a thing). Dance music does seem to just eat itself now, which is a problem for the ReFx / Vengeance preset model I guess. I remember initially buying Nexus because for the media work I wanted to be able to emulate current trends. Soon after the trends themselves started drying up.
But this is far more of a problem for Nexus than Avenger. Honestly, Avenger is now my favourite synth to program. And mostly I do analogue-type stuff. It may not have the greatest analogue emulation filters (would be lovely to add something there in a future release), but it is such fun to experiment, and very quick too. Avenger really doesn’t need its own presets like Nexus does.

This should be pinned somewhere
msvs wrote:will not get higher than 20% at Vengeance-Sound and refx.com!
It should be more important if you WANT the product, rather than if you can save more for another which you dont really want.

Iconic electronic music came from Britain.

Getting offtopic and I don't know if you're trolling or you have no idea about electronic music in general
(Of course I can name even more UK labels, but that's not the point.)
Here's a short refresher: Diynamic, Kompakt, Stil vor Talent, Innervisions, Cocoon, Keinemusik, Systematic Rectapiodmitriyevich wrote: s/iconic electronic music/redundant electronic techno crap with no progress until today

And the synth is amazing. Buying presets is just an option like any other synth. Cost is subjective. You can do anything with this synth if you have the know how.
A suggestion regarding the synth, it would be nice if the Mod Matrix got its own tab under the oscillator section where it would be easier to view and handle.

If anyone is wondering how can Pitch Bend can be translated into 2 positive values, in order to execute 2 distinct non-pitch bend operations (one for up, the other one for down), that is possible (although feature request a math operation to invert only negative values would be useful).
In this example, I placed in series one HP (slot 2) and one LP filter (slot 3), mapped as shown. Turning the bend wheel up will result in a high pass filter effect, while turning the weel down will result in a low pass filter effect. However, you can do this for any other stuff, like tweaking a set of knobs when PB goes up and a different set of knobs when PB goes down... it's weekend, let's get creative
PS: Although buttons are used as intermediary route, in this specific case they pass the information as a knob would do, they don't jump values between 0 and 1.

Loving this synth more everyday! One quick question to the staff though: Is there a crossgrade option to Phalanx? Had Phalanx on my radar before, but it was too "Mainstream" sounding for me. Now that I know what stuff you're making, I'm interested again.

Objectively, they are the most expensive presets on the market.belladona wrote:sircuit wrote:Wavegem wrote:Buying presets is just an option like any other synth. Cost is subjective.
