yep, it'll burn off fairly quickly. However, it can be a cause of a spotty solder job (cold joint). It sticks, but doesn't completely bond. It's not a big deal normally. But if you solder pots again, you'd be better off just sanding then cleaning the spot.

Good news, you don't have to buy from them.

Bad news so long as they have artists willing to sell out for a photo op you'll have suckers buying their products.

Well right now NOBODY can get them, but I hear ya, but it's so bizarre. Worse, the "cobalts" are actually pretty good strings even though they are expensive. But for whatever reason, maybe it's where I live, they are discoloring and getting crusty too easily, which negates the point.

I'm not paying 15 bucks for a set of guitar strings (especially 6 string)

Oh, I forgot the reason I logged in, I'll be curious when SJ gets his done. Something I discovered today is FAR more harmonic content with the same f**king pickups.

It will be good to get perspective, rats nest, etc.

The first time I tried Cobalts was when I got my strat plus back in the 80's
Also the last time..... I couldn't find them in a store near me to save my life. Finally I gave up looking and later lost all interest.

Ernie Ball Cobalts were introduced just a few years ago.

It'z ok. I get it. Yeah, those have been around forever. Not bad strings either, but not as available as once were.

I still don't understand why the two instruments they were on discolored so badly

I've never had that happen, regardless.

Lol, geez it's 8 in the morning ... let me have some coffee. I did get it in, but not sure I'm going to get to it yet. My soldering stuff is still packed from the move. Not sure where is the garage it is. But, sometime today I plan to look.

am I the only one who thinks that pots are way loser (making up words) than they used to be. I was just fiddling with the emerson drop in. One of the things I don't like about the pots that are in now is that if you breath on them, they move. My older guitars have a smoother, really creamy drag to the pots. But, I've been buying pots for quite a few years and it seems in the last 10 or 12 years, they've all got a super lose feel. Not only that, it feels like metal on metal instead of that tight grease bed feel of the older ones. Just wondering if I'm the only one that thinks this.

As an example, is that on my PRS Private Stock I had to stick a rubber grommet on the volume pot because simply tapping the guitar would move it a tiny bit. And, 95% of the volume is in the first 20% .. so those little moves made a big sound difference.
