1st read between the lines, I doubt it's crate
2nd what's wrong with crate? I sold a few Crate Vintage 50 combos and I was extremely surprised how nice they were. Sometimes I see them cheap and tbh that is one amp that is in my pawn shop/used gear scope.

I also sold probably close to 100 taxis in and around Boston, many of those customers gave up their beloved mouses for (which was bad for me because I picked up extra bucks replacing batteries in mouse amps at the time). Most of them were street performers or wannabe street performers.

I've had a few crates in my time...oh...I'm sorry I thought that you meant the OTHER type of crate....  :hihi: :hihi: :hihi:

Actually, Crate are a pretty good amplifier series...it is just that they are not my type....

If those pickup emus don't come out soon, how will I get this cheap guitar to sound like a les paul :bang:

nor mine until I played the vintage 50...my 4x12 is a crate but that is because once again while in retail I had a chance to score the cab cheap. However I would not have had it not been for a beat up Fender 4x12 in the basement of one of the stores I worked at. The boss told me to toss it because the cab itself was trashed, but it had 4 vintage celestion G35s in it that are in great shape. So I trashed the cab alright, with the crate 12s in it, I put the celestions in the crate cab and sold it to my alter ego...Roland Dube :hihi: (we were not allowed to buy used gear unless it was in the store for a long time and then we did not get a discount)

I was kinda of surprised myself, I hadn't seen them until I worked in one store that had a lot of used gear and the first one I sold was to a long time customer of mine. I had grown to respect this guy's knowledge and when his first response was "when did this come in?" I knew I needed to look into it deeper, he had to put it on layaway so I had a chance to play it in the backroom on breaks and such and was quite impressed.

It's also very easy on the eyes.

BTW in other threads I mention Oliver amps, originally from Ampeg Jesse Oliver left Ampeg (at least this how I understand the story) and built these amps.

Googling I find there seems to be several models but the one we once had in a store looked like this head (though I bellieve this one in the pic is a bass). The entire front is backlit so the names of the controls are only visable when it's on but I was blown away with the sound (not hi-gain sounds though). It turns out for a number of years this was the standard amp used at Berklee in Boston. I would absolutely love to have one :tu:
