I don't have any inside information but if I had to guess, I would say inMusic is a more likely partner than Apple.
I wish nothing but the best for those guys, I really enjoy their products.
Had I known that they were thinking partnering with another company, I would have suggested that Nektar make an offer.

This. Same thing that happened to emagic, and a host of other great companies. probably wanted the granular filters and a host of other things C.A. did better. Don't be surprised if Apple tries to copyright granular filtering....

I find it hard to believe Camel Audio would sell out to one of the BIG PLAYERS... they're definitely humanistic in their outlook, and while it may be all about money in the end, I'm pretty sure they wouldn't sell their souls to the highest bidder. Let's just wait and see.

They bought Emagic for the product Logic.beely wrote: *not* for CA's products themselves.
So what would likely happen is CA's products die, and Ben and maybe some of the others go to work for Apple on various projects, and we never hear from them again.

...so many speculations, but noone has mentioned Arturia, yet. They seem to be big enough and it would fit into their portfolio (as they're heavily leaning towards analog). Apple would mean big numbers for CA, but also the Cakewalk, Spectrasonics and even Propellerhead scenarios would make sense to me.
(But, God, I really hope, it's not IK!!!!!!!!!!!)

Really? You would be surprised to see what $$$ can do, trust me...ariston wrote:I find it hard to believe Camel Audio would sell out to one of the BIG PLAYERS... they're definitely humanistic in their outlook, and while it may be all about money in the end, I'm pretty sure they wouldn't sell their souls to the highest bidder. Yeah, read my post about this above.kiezum wrote:They bought Emagic for the product Logic.
People forget that iTunes, Final Cut Pro, Shake->Motion and others all came from buying other companies. They do do this, but emagic was the last *big* purchase in the pro audio space - the Redmatica situation is more typical.
Apple will buy, or try to buy, whatever makes strategic sense, at the end of the day...
For the Camel situation, if would not be for the products, as Apple has no interest in selling audio plugins to a tiny market. It would be for the developer talent and IP for sure.

2,9 billion dollars are not a bad side effect, indeed. I'm sure CA will feed their customers a similar line.beely wrote:The money is a benefit, but not necessarily the chief reason.
(I'm not claiming that this is the case here. I simply don't know.)

the data being the text on the CA site (which gives nothing away) and speculation elsewherebeely wrote:All mentioned many times earlier in the thread - have a read through.Kriminal wrote:what 'signs' ?xybre wrote: So yeah, all signs point to a buyout.
A buyout is the only thing that fits the pattern and the data we have.

IF Alchemy2 was that far along that some were creating soundbanks for it, perhaps whatever company waited until the Logic was pretty solid before signing on the dotted line. I could see that occurring. When is Winter NAMM?
I still hope a certain company didn't take a bite out of CA and leave us with the worm. I'd feel almost like run over by a Mac truck headed to the Apple orchard driven by a Camel!
