The modeled cymbals are really good in EXCITE. Maybe IK will do something like that in MODO DRUM 2.
Yeah, wishful thinking, I know.

Does anyone else ever notice MODO DRUM making weird pinging sounds, like a submarine, when it's just sitting idle after playing?
It seems to be coming from Floor Tom 1. It's like there's some garbage left in the buffer that it's still chewing on.

I maybe off base, could it be CPU saver setting in your DAW?! And a number of software hardware possibilities. It may be a new bug.jamcat wrote: Sat Dec 02, 2023 5:52 am Does anyone else ever notice MODO DRUM making weird pinging sounds, like a submarine, when it's just sitting idle after playing?

I don’t think so. It’s not new. I’ve experienced it for a long time(and MODO DRUM hasn’t been updated in over a year and a half.) It occurs in Mac and I’m pretty sure I experienced it on Windows as well, though it’s been a while since I’ve done any music in Windows.MJACau wrote: Sat Dec 02, 2023 8:46 amI maybe off base, could it be CPU saver setting in your DAW?! I’ve experienced this behavior on MODO DRUM as long as I can recall, but I’ve shrugged it off because it’s mostly just annoying. I only recently investigated exactly what the conditions are that lead to it.
It seems to be an intermittent ping tone produced by Floor Tom 1, and shows up in the Floor Tom 1 close mic, overheads, and room mics when it sounds. Floor Tom 1 has to be played first before it starts to happen.
It an easy test to try out. Load up Floor Tom 1, hit it a few times, and wait to see if it starts pinging like a submarine’s sonar.

Can someone tell if the MODO DRUM 1.5 CS has a limited number of patterns and new ones can't be added, like MODO BASS 2 CS, or in this case there aren't limitations? Thanks in advance

No one has the answer?ben_ita wrote: Sat Jan 04, 2025 12:44 pm Can someone tell if the MODO DRUM 1.5 CS has a limited number of patterns and new ones can't be added, like MODO BASS 2 CS, or in this case there aren't limitations? Thanks in advance
And more, do MODO DRUM 1 & 1.5 have the same number of patterns or do they add something more in the 1.5 update?

MODO DRUM patterns really suck, so probably no one bothers to use them. IK needs to build in something like a cross between EZplayer and Jamstix. It would take drum midi from other formats, like Toontrack, and convert them to MODO DRUM, and like Jamstix, would distribute the hits to the correct hands.
But that would require updating MODO DRUM, so let’s take it one thing at a time.

Maybe all those drum software tools were more interesting if they had a drum track generator like Jamstix' "brain".
Good modeled cymbals in addition to the already modeled drum elements are welcome too.

It's ridiculous that MODO don't use MIDI for their native drum patterns. If memory serves, they went with some proprietary method, presumably to prevent sharing of the patterns with/in other plugins? If so, it was a daft and user-unfriendly choice

Issues I have discovered in MODO Drum:
1. It does not publish the kit piece note names to the DAW so they show up in the piano roll. (kick, snare, etc)
2. There does not appear to be a way to hide the kits you don't own so you don't have to constantly scroll past them:

Sigh, not yet discovered the first one, but I hoped I was missing something about the second...Teksonik wrote: Wed Apr 23, 2025 2:13 pm Issues I have discovered in MODO Drum:

Hello @Peter Multimedia i am working arround a Guitar library For the Musiclab guitars. At the moment i have arround 900 tracks done. The Modo drums and bass i bought recently to give peple an alternative approach.... You mentioned the dancetech examples and they are great but for a non drummer from didactics point of view useless. He did place the modo gui for what reason ever all the Hi Hat video in the scene so as non drummer you can not see and understand what he is doiing there. No download available. If you promote than there should be a download there. i did look through the templates inside modo. Not very helpfull.maybe you free some downloads in the style of dancetech and do a manual or description why and what you are doing there. special the AutomationPeter - IK Multimedia wrote: Wed Aug 14, 2019 5:13 pmFrom another forum based on our competitive analysis (and possibly already posted here, sorry if so):reggie1979 wrote: Wed Aug 14, 2019 6:32 am I've listened the demos and have found this very un-inspiring as a drum alternative. Now, I don't own it or have it but the demo's don't do it justice. Imo, of course.
If I'm looking for drums I'm looking for what IS NOT available elsewhere. Unless I'm way off there is NOTHING that is elsewhere of what is available. Therefor, for the price, I do not understand where this is special.
Please, feel free to correct me where I am wrong..................The DanceTech videos really show a lot of the functionality and sound too, from a third-party perspective and they've been posted here. If any of those were missed I'll grab them.
- More included kits than most of the base packages of products we compared against.
- Smaller disk footprint and memory usage than most
- More effects than most, and derived directly from world-class products (T-RackS and AmpliTube)
- Convolution reverb included vs all but one we compared to
- More maximum kit pieces in a kit than all but one
- Shell customization which many don't have and MODO Drum is very deep customization overall, not just shell
- Interaction between kit pieces: Some don't have it at all, MODO Drum does and is part of the deeply realistic customization available
- Some don't have humanization whereas MODO Drum does
- Some don't have resizable GUIs but MODO Drum does
- Infinite velocity layers and round robin? None we looked at had those, MODO Drum does
- Fastest kit loading in the west goes to MODO Drum dominates the high noon showdown
- Real tuning modeling based on physical modeling characteristics? Only MODO Drum
- Interaction between drumheads modeled for most realism? Only MODO Drum
- No limitations of specifically-sampled signal chain - Again, only MODO Drum.
MODO Drum has selectable beat area on the heads, while offering the width, typology and materials modeling unlike others- Kick beater typology and drum stick type modeling? MODO Drum appears alone here
