i demo'ed iris and also padshop, both seem to be great but especially iris is so half baked with so many features crying to be implemented, the program is too expensive for what it is yet, with nice small additions like time stretching, some small adjustments etc. it would be my new favourite toy but i hope another company catches up on this and makes it better!

there is also a FREE PLUGIN! didnt test it yet!

Pretty harsh words, I would say that you can look at whats there or dream about pie in the sky improvements. This so called lack of features in Iris hasn't had me worried in the least. On further reflection nearly all the software that I've used has had bugs, limitations and missing features, yet still I can get to results that please me and in the process learn and develop my musical and music production skills. My present setup with the many plugs each with the lack of this or that feature is still keeping me interested now after 3 yers of intensive use... Personally I easily find it in my heart to give developers a chance especielly brand new offerings by a new team players in the field of plugin instruments. It really is a dream scenario that iZotope and Gforce two have teamed up this way two companies that in each their core fields anyone in the know cannot doubt that they know what they are doing. With Iris they have implemented a proof of concept in a timely fashion and have made a strong first number release offering. Iris does do what it promises and that without undo problems with bugs or crptic workflows that stop the creative process..

I recognize Iris for the qualities that it has now.

Spear is non realtime but go ahead enjoy the free plug for what it can do for you with that limitation..

didnt want you to get butthurt over this...... SPEAR i didnt test as i said but it's free so who gives a sh*t if it has limitations, iris on the other hand has those limited features critics in many reviews i read for example BEAT magazine, they also said with a few more additions this would be much better, why not give people the options? cause people like you say so? yeah welcome to the arrogant world of "i dont need it so shi*t on the others' opinions" ! bravo.

ps.
i am not surprised by your protective reply as your previous one was already sounding like you are one of their team or just a person who doesnt want to get bad feedback or more feedback on his beloved things.

for this price i would also buy it and take the limitations with hope for extensions!

but yes, for this price GO for it really! i have harsh words and i think those are true as some/many users would appreciate it but if you like what you saw/heard go for it. otherwise i would say go for ALCHEMY, it is not the same as IRIS but it is more or capable of different sound design, in my opinon Iris is more like an extra cookie if you need more than alchemy with its GREAT granular synthesis! checkout alchemys' sound design here for example:

@Caine123

Your calling out about the limitations of Iris like some one deeply commited to forcing issues and development scenarios on a company. So if I sound arrogant what are you? I'm saying give a chance to a new release and you harp on about limitations.. You don't want to use money on this version of the product. Look for something that suits you better, as you say Spear has your interest so good luck with this. But brow beating the iZotope Gforce team over lack of features in Iris actually makes you look less than serious in my honest opinion.. I wonder about you motives. It's an easy choice for you and saves money too, Don't like it don't buy it. :wink:

You can Demo the program and see for yourself. Money is realatve for some $ 106.25 is a lot of money for others it's not. Students generally don't have big budgets so you might want to price out your whole system needs for the next years usage..Then see if Iris or another sampler programs fits your needs..

Good Luck!

So getting on with the show I'm using Iris in Demo mode right now. I have already bought the patchpool subscription and I'm frankly amazed at what is possible with this instrument in skilled hands..

lol try to learn "context", skilled hands irony you can stick somewhere else in your head as it doesnt have something to do if there are limitations and suggestions which would fir... yeah you are so truly skilled you dont need the suggested options for iris, if they would be implemented you dont have to use them so give a fu*k about those features then, and again, arrogance proven from your side majestro!

is it wrong to just have hopes for nice additions? i guess the reviewers who made suggestions or missed some features are not skilled as well.....

sorry, but you are naiv and arrogant person who will never admit it and thats why it doesnt work discussing with you further, back to my works for efficiency instead of discussing with you ;). have fun with your SKILLED HANDS.

@Caine123

I wish it was me who was the one with the skilled hands at Iris, I'm not professing to have that yet but as the great number fine examples from many users on this thread and elsewhere have shown great results by yes skilled hands and ears have been achieved.

Seems to me surely you should buy the program as you feel so strongly about this, you will then from a deep first hand experience come with personal and relevant input for the improvements of Iris to the benefit of us all.

Have a nice night.

Thanks for your answers.

I have checked the demo and I thinks it's more an sampler than an other instruments. I have Kontakt 4. It's better to wait until Komplete 9 update to update Kontakt or to buy Iris. I thinks it's an sampler with different function than Kontakt

As these are 2 totally different beasts using different synthesis methods (spectral resynthesis combined with old school sample playing and very basic modulation capabilities versus granular resynthesis with quite advanced modulation capabilities) there is no better or best, it all depends on what you want to achieve respectively need more for your music.

I think padshop pro looked interesting as well and it's great to have it spelled out so clearly what the two programs strengths are....

Padshop pro seems like a bargain too..
