Can you imagine not being able to open saved work.

This whole authorization thing is getting ridiculous and will only fuel the hackers to crack this once and for all.

Props need to think long and hard.

Ernst needs a good punch LOL.

i mean ok so with my dongle i could open reason but i could not launch it with using any RE's, they were not in the rack.
Trial RE's only work online but if you have purchased some RE's you should be able to authorize them to run with your dongle only. It's in your account, "My Products" and "Rack Extensions" there's something called "manage licenses" or something like that. That process can be flukey too though... :|

You may also need to update the firmware of the dongle in case there are issue with authorization.

A big issue for any software house these days is software piracy. Companies come up with various ways of combating it, Propellerhead's being one of the least intrusive to the legitimate user. How big a problem is piracy for them?

Niels: "It's hard to quantify. It's big, of course. But we're very pleased that so many people choose to do the right thing. We try also, rather than introducing copy protection that frustrates users and yet is instantly crackable, to make service and support easy for the people who have done the right thing and bought the program. We don't want to frustrate them with installation processes that are more convoluted than downloading a pirate version, if you know what I mean. It's almost a punishment with some software products to actually buy them. We really want our users to have an easy life. We try instead to add value to the process of registration. We have a very good registration database, and for our registered users we hope we will make our service much better.

The truth is that I've never heard of any software house failed because of the piracy. But, well, I know for sure that Reason lost lots of users because of the dongle (myself included: loyal Reason registered user 2002-2012). I don't like those hardware anti-paracy controllers, a personal serial number and/or online activation is more than enough for me.
