AFAIK Omnisphere doesn't support continuous sustain pedal. One of my main beefs with Keyscape's C7 piano (no proper sympathetic resonance emulation either).

In addition to my question about playing different sounds at the top and bottom slide areas of the Block - also would be nice to play same sounds as the keys at these areas but shifted - the top one - 2 octaves higher and the bottom one - 2 octaves lower. That way with a 24 keys you get 72 notes. Yes, those two areas will not have the sliding effects, but anyway the other 4 sensitivities are enough. Isn't there a software that can be used to achieve that w/o the need to code in c++ or js :)

I was planning something similar using the lightfoot scripting, but since they seem to have removed that my plan to do it that way is scuppered for now. I would have/still will share such work if it becomes possible again.

Whether its achieved using something we could strictly call programming, scripting, or via clever setup of an existing app, its still somewhat non-trivial and the sort of thing thats more likely to be done by someone and shared than easily achieved by many from scratch.

And trying to do what you ask by simply using the existing MPE midi that comes from the device is not a 100% perfect solution for a reason I will attempt to describe. The first midi data sent from the seaboard when you touch the surface will be a note on message, with no info about your fingers vertical position on the device. In practice it doesn't take much subsequent finger movement to end up sending the midi cc for slide, but there are still times where, for example with a very briefly held note, this info might not come over at all, and you'd still have to delay the passing on of the note on message until after this info is received. Issues to do with how slide works (eg relative, absolute) also have to be watched out for and impact on whether we are actually getting the right vertical position info to do the job properly.

Those reasons tend to add up quickly for me and are why I favour using actual accurate x/y touch position data to do the job properly.

Mmmmm. If you look at that video there are three meters on the left (Gen2, Sus, Sos1) of which the one in the middle (Sus) seems to indicate the position of a continuous sustain pedal. It matches what I think I'm hearing as well in the Legato Strings section around the 11:14.

EDIT: As it turn out you are entirely correct, Omnisphere 2 does not support continuous sustain pedals as such as confirmed by Spectrasonics in an email to me. However, see my latest post as this might not mean that much.

Hey everyone

I got my Rise 49 last week from Roli and there are two things that I noticed on my unit that are making me think I should possibly exchange it.

The Glide between B and C in the middle of the keyboard is not as smooth as every other semi-tome slide, have you noticed that on yours as well?

The second thing is higher velocity on one keywave when played in one particular part of the key. The area in which the velocity is higher is literally 1 or 2 millimetres. The velocity jumps to about 40 or so whereas if I play any other key with the same force its around 10 consistently.

Have you noticed any of these things? I am using Equator mainly with this.

Other than those 2 things its absolutely perfect and I love how expressive it is!

I think somewhere back in the thread it has been said by Roli that a 49 is two 25's joined so the middle is a bit different - is that what you are referring to?

Also somewhere in this thread Roli had told someone that the response varied over a keywave. Not sure how much by though.

Yes I read that and yes it is in between of the two octaves. I thought I read elsewhere that this was in fact fixed in later versions of the rise but I can't find that link now so I'm not sure.

Just wanted to check with others to see how widespread it is before I contact Roli.

From seeing this thread, it's widespread enough. If you don't like it, though, I suggest not keeping it, regardless of how many of them are like this.

The reports of inconsistency keep me from setting money aside for one of these (of course, if I started saving now, they might have the manufacturing fully worked out by the time I have enough money to buy one... or they'll have been long out of business...).

I'm also holding off on getting one until this seems resolved. In the meanwhile, I have my Linnstrument though eventually I want both.

As I said, apart from those two things, mine is perfect.

If the gap between the B and C in the middle ends up being something that had to be done because of the design then I can accept that. Its the inconsistent velocity on one key within a couple of mm and nowhere else. Its consistently inconsistent within those 2 mm :)

I didn't notice a gap between B & C at all. I did however notice that the velocity is different depending on where you hit the key. Also, some keywaves aren't as responsive as others. It's very little though and you won't notice when actually playing. So far I've only tried Equator and it may be a velocity issue there, I've only auditioned presets so far.

If you slide slowly between the middle B & C is it as smooth as between C and C#? On mine there is a bit of a quantizing between B and C, its not that obvious but its different enough than the other semitones that makes it noticeable

I'll admit I haven't investigated it that thoroughly but I'll give it a shot asap and get back here. I have the 49, wonder if the 25 and the Grand suffer from the same issue?

Great, thanks. Looking forward to your result

Sorry for my question but I'm a newbie :) So - by "totally removed this feature in the latest dashboard version" does that means if on is using some old version of dashboard still will be able to write scripts? Also where can I learn about "littlefoot scripts"? Thanks
SteveElbows wrote: At this point I would normally start going on about how the functionality of the seaboard block can be modified directly inside the device by writing our own littlefoot scripts. But it looks like Roli totally removed this feature in the latest dashboard version, without any warning (it probably still exists for lightpad blocks but I can't confirm that right now either). This is typical Roli, I love some of their products but I don't have a very high opinion of them as a company.
