That has been possible for ages in Reason.
edit area + arranger + rack + mixer, then 4 at the same time :P :) (I use the mixer detached on MacBook...)

default/mixer EQ and the compressors for the current track are always visible

and you can dock the effects related to the instrument under the instrument in the mixer device, and then you just have to put the device rack in full screen

I see for the first time that this is possible. Could you tell me how to get the mixer channel on the right of the screen, i.e. only the ONE mixer channel that is currently selected in the sequencer track? Do I have to share the screen for this ? (I'm using Windows 10)
it's a kind of magic :D ... simple resizing windows on a Mac, focus switching from Reason then the window size-positon can be toggled between maximized and resized using mac shortcut key. I am not sure about the process on Windows.

Why can't we have something like this as an option?
I have a lot more horizontal screen real estate than vertical.

Image

Detaching windows is an option, but then you have two device lists, "two" browsers confined to their parent window etc.

Great combo. Compliment each other perfectly.

F**k are they slow....its feels like all other companies (even the ones with less capital and less devs) need only 1/10 of RS development time. :? :?

I see the disadvantage that not every device has a track, so there is no place for the rack navigator (on my MacBook ...), you know

so I would vote for some clever solution that would able to utilize two rack columns + navigator together

Why isn't there space for the navigator? Enable it and it would just expand the width of the rack frame. It's just a quick mockup.
I don't see why the navigator will break this layout so much that having it letterbox style is better. Do anyone really use the mixer in combo with the others?

^^^ Then, nothing can be seen from the arranger, which is not good.

but as a compromise let's implement screensets

then everybody can/would/whatever be happy

My final rant on the layout... :D

What's the point of having the longest mixer channel in the industry dock vertically? I get carpal tunnel syndrome just looking at it.

You can fold the areas you don't need

Screen layouts have not been my issue with Reason :D

Exactly my thoughts.
festeringheap wrote: Tue Jul 02, 2024 6:41 pm Big fan-boy. But likely stuck on 12 for quite some time.
That's my initial thought as well, and as long as it keeps working I will. But based on how they run the company now, I don't expect any contingency planning for the online authorization if/when the company folds. So I'm doing my own contingency planning, and line-up a new DAW for when the proverbial shit hits the fan.
Reason 12.5.3 is the last version that uses the Authorizer...
12.6 added Apple silicon support so on 12.5 you're running Reason with Rosetta?

Hopefully, Reason Studios doesn't pull anything dodgy and start charging yearly for offline use. I'm mostly offline with music computer except for rare updates. Not sure if they could do anything like that, but who the heck knows with RS these days.

As a long-time user, I have the - subjective - feeling that their communication and user reflection could be cited as an negative example of a long-standing, successful, customer-oriented corporate software strategy. But who knows, perhaps they are simply anti-entrepreneurship and they are trying to pull it off in a very special way.

The company still exists after all these years, which is quite an good achievement.
