Tried to find a good trumpet, pan flute, accordion, and tuba patches today in Zenology, realized that this category is Zenology's weakest territory.

My friend's old Yamaha PSR-S900 has far better sounds in this category.

1. Does Zenology have all the sounds from new Roland Fantom ?
2. Does Fantom have more and better sounds than Zenology ?
3. Which Roland Cloud instrument has the best trumpets, trombones, tubas, flutes, wooden flutes, accordions and panflutes ?
Main Computer Specs: MacBook M1 Max, 32GB, 4TB, Cubase 13.

Zenology has SOME of the sounds in the Fantom, but there’s more with the wave expansions included in the Fantom.
The Fantoms acoustic sounds are pretty terrible tbh. They’ve not been updated in many years. You're better off using some of the Exz wave expansion libraries found in the cloud, these are imported into the Fantom as well, you’ll find more convincing material in that vs Zenology.
This is where Yamaha, Kurzweil seem to just leave Roland in the dust.

If you have an ultimate subscription you can download all of the expansion packs that are available for Zenology. Included in that are multiple Orchestral libraries. Some of the sounds in there are quite good, others not so much

Eric Persing designed many of them back in the 1990s for the JV and XV Synths but they were also used in the original early 2000s Fantom and made another appearance in the Integra7 and then again in the JV and XV plugins, and the current Fantom and Zenology Synths, by this point after close to 30 years worth of recycling them you could say Roland got their money's worth lol

I used to own a Yamaha Motif XS/XF, these are great for these types of sounds.
Alternatively you can try the Korg Triton plugin, like I do these days, happy camper here.

Roland has some decent orch stuff on the SRX expansions which run from the cloud. better to run directly than within zenology imo

tried using Zenology again today. It takes forever to open, that's a big workflow killer.
( I'm using the most basic subscription not ultimate )

Go to /Library/Application Support/Roland Cloud/ZENOLOGY
Remove folders for anything you don’t have a lifetime / subscription license for.
(On Windows the location is here C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Roland Cloud )
This should reduce the first launch time to around 7 seconds.

He didn’t get the memo…oh wait, there was no memo…

Maybe they’re waiting for the 30th anniversary of JP8k (2027)

How does Roland upgrades work, if you own say the jx-3p, and choose to want to upgrade to the Analog Polysynth Bundle, do they give you a deal on what you already own ?
