Hi everyone,

After a long silence period, it's time to update the KVR community on the coming new features in SynthMaster 2.1 8)

In 2.1, we tried really hard to improve the filters section, both "analog" and "digital" models. The "digital" models have been re-written actually, and I believe they now sound similar to a "v"ery "V"amous VA. The analog models have been improved as well, after comparing the filter sweep outputs with filter sweeps from a Moog Voyager.

We finally added distortion to the filters, and you have 4 choices to apply it:

1. No distortion at all
2. Before the filter
3. After the filter
4. Inside the filter (in between the sections of the filter)

For the filter response graphs, the analog response curves are also added so the curves are basicly "what you see is what you get" :) Even for a simple LP filter the analog and digital response curves tell the difference visually!

We added new filter types by the way:

1. MultiMode filters: These filters have a "mode" parameter which is continuously switchable between LP-BP-HP:

2. Dual-MultiMode filters: "Dual" filters are actually two filters running simultaneously. You can adjust the mode, cutoff of each, and also the mix ratio and the topology (parallel/series).

There are analog versions of the above filters as well:

As you see above, for the analog filters, there's a "slope" parameter as well, which is continuously adjustable!

Our plan is to wrap up all of the changes until the end of April, and make a release in May. Let's hope that we can meet that target deadline :)

Forgot to add a couple of things above:

1. The UI above is prototype, so we'll introduce a new skin for 2.1 release.

2. We will be adding a mod matrix UI so that we can squeeze more parameters into the UI by eliminating all of those rings/modulators around parameters.

3. The "distortion" curve is editable so you can come up with many different sorts of nonlinearities.

4. There are other minor additions as well, such as "drift" parameters for oscillators and envelopes.

I am looking forward for the update :D

me too

I hope with this new release SM2.1 will be a real killer VA :D

I think I should also add the feature to route audio input to the oscillators directly so that might lead to very interesting FX with the SM2.1 filters 8)

Just added mod matrix plus a 4/8/12/16 stage Phaser effect for the layers.
Now time to move on to the reverb!

Watch out folks! :)

Great, then there you go :) Mind you, the below is JUST a prototype, done with the GUI editor that comes with SynthMaster 2. This prototype is intended for development purposes, other skins/interfaces will follow soon!

a bit offtopic, but whats up with the multiples of 16 buffer limitation in synthmaster?

Post

Offtopic aswell, but I'd love to load a single layer preset into the second layer of a sound, making layering sounds about zillion times faster.

That prototype looks like its going to be easier to use.

Forward!

That's already possible, in 2.0 as well. Just save a selected layer's settings as "Layer" preset, then load it on to the other one.

Actually it's 4, not 16: Because most of the algorithms are written using SIMD instruction sets, so 4 samples are processed at a time.
