Quick question about the Infinite Player as part of this GB. Is it just the app, or does it come with some stock sounds? I'm asking because the esounds catalog has 1.3GB download size in IP product description- which would indicate some bundled samples.

If you buy the Infinite Player as a product on its own it comes with some samples. But when bundled with other sample products it doesn't. Well it comes with THOSE samples.

For the last couple of days I've been having a blast building some of my own iMap kits using Kontakt! What a marvellous sampler it is. After all the pain I was going through building limited instruments using SampleTank--for so many years--and now I realize it is so easy in Kontakt (and with a visually pleasing GUI).

For any of you who are interested in further customizing your kits, I strongly recommend getting the full version of Kontakt. It is fantastic!

I am building kit pieces as individual instruments (using iMap extended layout) so that my kit pieces will be interchangeable with all my other Drum Master and Ocean Way Drum stuff. I think I may even start going through my SampleTank drum collection, and resample my favorite tom and snare sets and build Kontakt instruments for them as well. I could easily take 3 nice tom sounds from a SampleTank GM drum set and convert them into a 9 tom iMap set with more variety in each of the hits.

So much fun! :hyper:

I think IK Multimedia should have upgraded SampleTank to allow for full Sampler editing a long time ago. It is a shame to have all those ST instruments and not be able to do some more serious instrument editing.
Somewhere in the background zedd

Mr Callahan, sir, could you please point that luck off to the left a bit? :-o

True, but I'm almost certain that no-one has suggested that there were.
Squids wrote:These are stereo kit pieces which do allow individual control of the volume of each kit piece - so you can adjust snare, kick, each tom, hats, crashes, rides etc. But you can't adjust the individual discrete mics of each kit piece. We call those "Multitrack" in Drum Masters world and "Multichannel" in the OWD world.
However, there is one extra thing you can do in THIS group buy which is mix in the convolution room ambience from the various studios Drum Masters and OWD are recorded in. This allows you to match up ambiences between kits and do other cool things. So it is semi-multitrack at the end of the day. Just not as deep but also not as intensive on the computer, ram and HD.
later, he wrote:There's a different between a stereo kit that has the whole kit in one Kontakt Instrument and comes out one stereo output vs. THESE quasi-multitrack stereo kits. The difference is first that they are individual kit pieces that are each their own instrument and are a kit via a MULTI.

But secondly each kit piece is routed to the appropriate individual stereo output for that semi-multitrack aspect. You get at the bottom output section the following:

So as you can see you can control the individual levels of each drum. Plus you can tailor it on the kit piece itself (if you wanted to say adjust the level of each tom within the toms). You have quite a bit of mixing control! But what you don't have is the blending of the mics.
And you can upgrade too, saving money:
Actually, the upgrade to Silver, Gold or Platinum discount is $99. Not sure about the upgrade discount to DL though yet. But close. The upgrade to the new Drum Masters 2 Signature Drum Kits Vol. 1 and/or 2 is also $99 off. I am not sure about Drum Masters 2 (the main one with multitrack kits and grooves) but again... there will be some kind of discount to get that as well.
In fact, when the number of enrollees exceeds 300 (currently 282 and rising) you can choose EZPlayer Pro OR a multi-track kit.

Here's a review that gives a good overview, some of the Arranger features look good for combining and manipulating rhythms::

It's about that time.. a couple new ones since the last post. The vdrums discussion is quite interesting and full of (even more) info about these products.

Small german-speaking forum but only musicians/audio engineers so might bring in a few additional sales.

Squids wrote:Btw, it is Drum Masters 1 to Drum Masters 2. Infinite Player is the library unlock for Kontakt Player and that has version 3.5 and/or 4 available to your right now. But, if you're meaning the kits with the new round robin and other features mentioned then that will be coming within the next 1-3 months (I am shooting for THIS month but... I also don't want to rush them. SOME will be available this month though for sure. Also, you DON'T have to download the whole kits again. They are just NKM and NKI patches that have the scripting inside and reference the sample NKX's differently. So they're SUPER fast to download once we have them.
Ok, thanks for the update :tu: So, we don't need to upgrade anything (if we already own Infinite Player 1) for the kits in this group buy to work? Does that include the Ocean Way kits? Have they been converted over to the IP format yet? Do we need to upgrade to Kontakt Player 4 (I still have 3) to support these new kits? And one more...if we already own multi-track versions of several kits in this GB should we still download these stereo (ST) kits? I can't exactly keep straight which ones I already own because they are named a little differently here. Ahhh, not a big deal really, just trying to understand how this all pieces together and I'm easily confused

Thanks Squids :)
Rich

Edit: Do these kits have presets for mix-ready sounds that include EQ, compression, room sounds (for dry kits), etc in Kotakt? That helps folks like me (songwriters) who don't always want to tinker with all manner of settings. It's nice to have something ready to go :D

Will the $99 upgrade coupon be redeemable at, say, Guitar Center, Sweetwater, etc.? Combining that coupon with GCenters regular 10-15% off sales yields an awesome chunk off one of these packages.....If we're locked into using just from the sonicreality website, I guess that wouldn't work.
