shanecgriffo wrote:just wondering the best way to use sampletank set up in ableton to play/record various drum loops from the loop library sets through a song..
eg loopA=verse loopB=chorus ..etc.?
are there any links to tutorials for this sort of thing?

will they have to be on seperate layers/different tracks?
Is it just easiest to render them to wav files and work from there?
thanks
Hmm... maybe in our list of bonuses on www.esoundz.com we'll put the corresponding Sonic Reality R.A.W. titles which have REX - APPLE LOOPS and ACIDIZED WAVE loops already ready for apps like Live, Stylux RMX, Reason, Logic, Soundtrack, Garageband, Cubase, Sonar, Tracktion, ProTools, FL Studio... here they are:

Actually, there currently are no actual keyswitch features in SampleTank. Anything I do that appears to be that is some sort of "trick". In the case of the "Oh Baby" stretch trick, that's just taking a phrase sample, applying stretch and putting it in phrase mode (ideally), then put it in mono legato mode. While you're playing a single line you can hit another note while it is playing and it will stretch to that key mid performance. A fun trick but by no means a complete solution like Melodyne or anything... still nice to have in the tool box! That trick only works on a single line, the only way to do harmonies and change the pitch mid performance is to overdub each part separately... like one would recording real vocals! Otherwise, without changing the pitch one can play harmony chords... but actually overdubbing the solo voices gives you more flexibility for the harmony arrangements.

By the way, if you're having trouble importing in a particular host you can try using it in Stand Alone and see if that helps. Although the "can't find root note" message I believe can be avoided by putting a root note key name such as C3_ before the name of your wave file. SampleTank likes to see the note name of where it is to be mapped to in the file name. Hope that helps!

Well, I wrote "maybe" for now...
Make it one of those upright or antique pianos, and I'm in!!!

Or one of those Ken Scott pianos! I could sure use a better Beatley piano.

You could also make one the options the option to select an additional Xpansion Pack... although brand new bonuses are always welcome.
If we do it we're talking about a different piano, an antique Steinway Model D. But, I have to confirm it for certain. It would be suitable for "Beatley" but not quite the same as the rightfully higher priced Ken Scott recorded ones... we have certain costs and/or royalties that have to be paid on some products that would prevent us from being able to do just give them away. But I suspect you know that and were just trying to squeeze one out as a freebie huh? ;)

Heck, I'm just trying to help squeeze them out!! :clown:

I'll be happy to pay for them as soon as they're available! You know I'm eager...

Anyway... don't get the World Instruments Collection if you were in that group buy. Same material. This whole round up of titles is mostly a retrospective of past group buys, capsules and the original Expansion Tank titles. The ones to pick would be categories you don't already have...
Thanks a lot for that, Squids, much appreciated. I get the impression that there's enough in the guitar and bass sets from the Capsules that those'd probably be worthwhile getting anyway at this price, despite already owning the original Expansion Tank versions....

OK, I got that stretch/legato mode from the clip, which is really cool feature - in addition to that in my ears it sounded like a extra "color" in the articulation at one point, but maybe that "rustines" just came out from the original sample when playing one syllable in different key. In spite of this - have you considered adding (sampling) extra articulation using key switches or somehting else to the future (vocal) libraries? Could be succes.

Don't think that will be possible until SampleTank 3 comes out.

Yes, not possible in the current SampleTank anyway... not without some trickery.

But, as I said, that is what the future vocal library for Infinite Player will have.

By the way, I got a veto on the 500 mb piano. Apparently it isn't nearly ready and also a few things prevent me from giving it way (the bigger issue). But, I am making a pitch to IK to release some larger sized focus libraries some time this year for SampleTank that have one or two great pianos in one library, one or two killer drum kits... instruments of the 500mb size range. We've never done it to that extent in SampleTank and it might be a nice option... not in time for this group buy but perhaps some time this Summer.

In any case, I will have more news on what we CAN give away in our new multiple choice download extras (most likely some of the other stuff I mentioned is going to be okay). This is good if you joined on www.esoundz.com multiple times. You can pick something different for each time you joined. Anyway, I will get you more concrete info on what that will be as soon as possible - before the end of this week!

We are certainly looking forward for this one! H.

Are we allowed to give mp3/youtube demos of packs we have purchased- like short examples of each instrument in a pack- or does that go against some sort of copyright? I know it would help me a lot to hear what each sound sounds like (for example, I would love to hear each individual patch in the vocal or hip hop pack). The YouTube demos out there are very minimal and I worry that they feature only a few sounds (that may be the best of the pack- leading me to want to buy it but then getting dissapointed once I play the other sounds).
I have 2 more packs (and hopefully 3) to pick so I am holding tight until I can hear more reviews or actual samples of the packs.
I would be willing to do a Trip Hop demo and the Nashville Pop loops demo if needed (wouldn't be anything special, just going through each preset).

Go for it. I'd love it if you guys all did that. Granted each person's playing and level of expertise may be different...not giving the full picture of what someone else can do with the product. But all perspectives are good! We'll even give some epointz to anyone who does a good job at it. How's that?

I'm loving these sounds! Especially the OBX library -- incredibly rich for a sample-based synth library (but owning Sonik Synth 2, I already knew what SampleTank was capable of :-) ).

Seriously, though, just in case anyone from IK is listening, I would totally pay $50 or more for a ST to SFZ converter app. I know it opens up a can of licencing worms (maybe charging for it would help with those issues), but to be able to use some of these sounds in Alchemy or Dimension Pro would be truly awesome.
