I'm not sure there will be a way to know exactly who is #400, since the counter isn't a "live" feed. With five products, Allen at esoundz is manually keeping track of the sales. He lets Squids know the totals, and Squids updates us from time to time.Tzarls wrote:What's the count right now? (I want to be #400 -)
(BTW - Tzarls at esoundz)
But we're really, really close - and might already have hit it.
BTW - did you play around with the D Violins, Watcher 2, Tronny Strings and Tony Choir in the Vintage Keys Collection? What did you think of them?
They're all "classic" Tron sounds, so those will give you a perfect idea of what to expect if you decided to pick up SampleTron. If you don't care much for them, Sonik Synth would be a much better choice.

Yeah we hit it just 5 min ago and 3 came in at the same time. People like to wait until the last minute (also on the refills - that's going nuts right now because it's technically supposed to end at 6 but we'll let it run a little longer for the late ones). I'm going to update the first page in a second. That was one thing this time that wasn't as slick. Because it was multiple products instead of one we didn't have an automatic system for keeping track so it had to be done manually and sometimes we took a little bit to get to it. Although I've been pretty good about it today!torgo wrote:I'm not sure there will be a way to know exactly who is #400, since the counter isn't a "live" feed. That said, I don't know if we'll do a group buy this way again. I prefer the auto display kind. We're doing some major changes to esoundz and one that would be cool would be a drop down option so if it was a group buy like this you could buy that one group buy and then choose from a drop down which VI you wanted. That's ideally what we should have done but we weren't ready with that yet.
Anyway, we're at 402. Congrats everyone! You did GREAT! This was a very good group buy thanks to all of you. Hope you enjoy all the sounds! It's still over until the fat lady sings at Midnight though so hurry up and take advantage of this crazy deal while you can!

I'm in the same boat, having Dirty South and several other construction kits in Infinite Player format from last year's Sonic Odyssey group buy.
I've found that there are some differences between a few of the ReTanks, XpansionTank versions, and Infinite Player versions - not just the formats, but different loops included.
I'm not sure if there are any differences between the ReTank and RAW titles.
Since you like the Trip Hop set, that probably would be the best one to repeat. It's by far the largest.
It's so big that it got split into two sets for the XpansionTank versions on the IK web site (Trip Hop Beats plus Down Tempo Electronica).

The auto-counter is pretty minor. The more important thing with this one is that the product pages for all the involved items are pretty much up to date, complete and accurate. (Info/demos are missing for some of the construction kits, but the R.A.W. versions have the demos.)
Overall, great job keeping this one running smoothly!
So... what's the NEXT big esoundz promo?

Yes, those are great sound with their own character and texture, truly usable in the right context (what isn't, anyway?) But I've decided to go the Miro + Squids Tron Exclusive. Later I can complete my Tron collection with the other library you mentioned, and maybe someday get Omnisynth. The only problem is - what do I do now with the old Miros CE?torgo wrote:

Anyway, I'll be buying in a few minutes. Thans for the all the advise!

I previously got the Miroslav CE and just bought the full version today. Do I need to uninstall CE and the sounds before installing the full version? (All my samples (16+GB) are under Sample Tank folder).

I did the same thing. You don't need to uninstall CE first, it will do a separate install for the full version. But now that I have the full version installed, I went ahead and uninstalled CE just to clean up room on my hard drive. Maybe someday if I have a music laptop for portable work I'll stick it on there for quick sketch work.StickyWicket wrote:I previously got the Miroslav CE and just bought the full version today. We've officially got about 15 minutes left, if anyone is still sitting on the fence...
Time for one more walkthrough to celebrate breaking the 400 mark!
There are two chorus effects on the list of SampleTank's built in effects - a single chorus and a multichorus. Both are the standard delay variety. They work by generating a very slightly delayed second tone that oscillates above and below the main tone. The basic controls are pretty simple - you set the speed at which the delayed wave oscillates, and you set the depth (the difference in frequency) between the second tone and the main tone.
But there's a second, entirely different form of a chorus effect. It's the layered chorus, and it has been a favorite synth trick of mine going back to the old Yamaha DX-21 keyboard synth of the late 1980s.
(That one was the first younger sibling to the ever-present DX-7. It only had four operators instead of six, but the keyboard could be split or layered - making it possible to pull off this type of layered chorus. The original DX-7 couldn't do this.)
It's also part of the secret of the really fat Moog and Oberheim sounds. It works by layering two copies of the same instrument sound and detuning them slightly. It's quite simple, but the result can be staggering.
The catch is that you can't save it as a single instrument sound. If you want to save it (I usually don't bother), you have to do it as a Multi (or Combi) preset.
How to create a layered chorus effect:
If you have SampleARP Solo, load up the Prosoloist Flute sound.
If you don't have SampleARP Solo, load up the "Start Synth" sound. It originally comes from SampleMoog, but you'll also find it in SampleTank Free.
Either one will work just fine. Load the sound into Part 1 and play a few notes to get an idea of the tone. Pretty darn simple, right? (That's why we're working with these sounds. They need help.)
Now load another copy of the same sound into Part 2. Click on the MIDI channel and drag the mouse down to change the channel to 1 so that both copies of the sound will play on the same channel.
Now click the SYNTH button. Select one copy of the sound and set the FINE knob to +6. Click the other copy of the sound and set the FINE knob to -6.
We've just detuned them very slightly from each other.
And now play a few notes. Pretty impressive difference, huh?
This is a really simple trick that does absolute wonders for a lot of the SampleARP Solo sounds and other basic sounds. You can jazz things up a bit by panning them to different parts of the stereo field, adding other effects (even different effects for each copy of the sound), etc.
But as a chorus effect, it helps if you keep the two tones pretty similar - and not tuned too far apart. If you go to +20 and -20, it won't sound so good. The idea is to trick the ear into hearing one "fattened" sound rather than two that are out of tune with each other.

Errrr.......how long does it take for the serial to appear in my user area? 'Cause I'm still waiting...

Yeah, I thought that could be the reason.... thanks man, hope you received the epointz for having you as my referal!

Thank you for the epoints! And thank you to one or two others that I don't know about as well!
(The emails usually don't come through - not sure if it's just something quirky about my email or if its something in the esoundz system. But it's pretty rare for me to receive one of the emails telling me that someone has referred me. So I never know who to thank.)
Also, you might want to check your User Area again in a few minutes, just in case the serial number is there. Squids updated the first page just a few minutes ago, so there's no telling who else at esoundz might still be up, bringing this group buy to its official close.
The final count was 432. So Squids gets a big congratulations for a brilliant marketing move in giving out the fourth library early. We had 50 more sales after he made that announcement. Outstanding move, Squids!

It's been a great ride, everyone. Thanks to Squids, eSoundz and IK for making these early summer GBs an annual event, they make me REALLY look forward to this time of year.
torgo, to quote Apollo 13, "You, sir, are a steely-eyed missile man!" Thanks for a final tutorial. (And ALL of them!)
Also, thanks to everyone who gifted me epointz. Times are tight for audio engineers these days, it's MUCH appreciated.
One last tip, as I just mentioned to dmorrill, make SURE to make back-ups of your IK VIs in the 30 days after you download. (Saving the unzipped files to DVD or your bkup hard drive takes up the least space) After that, you'll need to pay a "reactivation" fee to download them again. Your eSoundz stuff will always be in your account, (NICE!) but once you download at IK, the clock starts ticking!
As a wise friend told me, "With data, if you don't have it twice in two different places, you don't have it." SO true!
I've truly enjoyed the banter and hope I was able to help a few folks as I've been helped here, that's the best I can hope for.
Cheers and good luck to all,
Xenobt
