Tip: HZ does LOTS of layering. He's very adept at getting several layers to blend together, creating a single "sound".Urs wrote:But yeah, the one thing we couldn't quite add to the package is Hans Zimmer's workflow and of course his skills as a composer. I'm sure many people will listen twice to TDK and TDKR soundtracks now to figure this out.

Well, modern sound design is about layering sounds - IMO at least. as there are WAY too many sounds and techniques around, the effective way to go (getting unique sound as fast and as effortless as possible) is layering. or - blending. or - mashing.Howard wrote:Tip: HZ does LOTS of layering. Having seen BB and (in the midst of) TDK I must say that I was drawn much more to the Inception soundtrack.
It has that WOW (:o) factor. the synth based scenes are powerful and seem to blend perfectly together (ie. the scene and the music that accommodate it). that is not to say the the orchestra parts are not good, but to ME, the parts that involved synths (PADS), perfectly and powerfully conveyed the nature of the scene.
There is one sound there (in Inception) that I was kinda able to imitate using two layers of zebra
(tough it goes out of tune all the time !!

i think hes saying he made a close approximation of the sound you made for inception. the sound you have now added to this bank.
still not seen inception, its got that decaprio bloke, cant stand him... (as an actor, i obviously dont know him as a person...)

I'm just now listening to TDKR soundtrack with headphones... definately an Uhbik-A on the Scissors preset there...
Loads of Zeebs. Much more obvious than in TDK or even Inception.

"Zebra Technologies reported that first quarter sales rose 17% over the same period last year, and that first quarter net income rose 164.5% over the same period last year. Contributing to the gain in net income were operating margin improvements of 6.6%.
Net income in the first quarter exceeded $24 million compared to $9.3 million in Q1 2009.
"Broad-based demand across geographies, products and industries led to Zebra's strong first quarter performance, as customers invested in Zebra solutions to improve asset management and visibility across the supply chain," stated Anders Gustafsson, Zebra's chief executive officer.
