I didn't think 10.4.8 would run on the M1. Then again, don't see why it shouldn't. Wait! Is there even a 10.4.8?
All my plugins I have installed have validated without a problem, although some legacy content within Amplitube 4 didn't make it. I expect there will be issues with Sampletank 2&3 files within Sampletank 4, but there's not enough space on this computer to test it. The fun will begin in earnest when I get the iMac.

You impressed with your new machine? I know I am looking forward to what they put out next.

I sold my 13” i5 quad when i ordered M1, then yesterday i sold my i7/32gb Mini.
The 13” m1 mbp just worked better (or the very least the same) in nearly every scenario - via rosetta no less, while being cooler and quiet.
Gonna get the beefier desktop when it comes out, the M1 more than caters my laptop needs. (And can weather me over till desktops come out)

Hmpf, I really wish I could hop onto the M1 train, my Mac Pro fans need yet another round of cleaning and possibly I also need to apply some new thermal paste. I hate that kinda stuff. But then, no work for quite another while as it seems.

Most plug ins work here quite well, too (M1 Mac Mini). I have some minor issues here and there, but given that this is a brand new system, it's rock solid, super responsive, fast, and absolutely silent. I really really love this little beast - best machine I had in ages.
As for plug ins: I am running the Silicon Logic version (not the Rosetta one), and most plug ins are well behaved there, as well. I still have issues with Slate and Waves, tough - anybody got them to run in such a scenario? (I don't want to run the Rosetta Logic, as the Silicon one runs so well.)

For Waves users you may need to open Studiorack to see and use your other Waves plugins. Not sure if anyone else had this issue but that is how I finally got mine going with the Mac M1 and Rosetta through Garageband.

O.k., got most of the Waves plugins do behave nicely now. It was a mixture of user error and the plug ins not validating automatically - I had to re-select them with the plugin manager. Still, one or two seem to be resistant (Element, for example, does not show up, despite claiming to be validated). However, overall, I am pretty happy now!
Still missing a few that do not validate or crash (Equator 2.0, Slate, Air -> not hopful for that stuf, Cytomic, BFD3 -> big bummer, hoping that they will still develop this, Massive X -> sigh!). However, 95% of the rest behaves nicely even in the Silicon Logic Pro via their Rosetta versions.

At this point it would probably make more sense to just wait until the next gen models are announced. I suspect we’re going to see more higher end laptops and iMacs this year.Sascha Franck wrote: Mon Jan 25, 2021 4:16 pm Hmpf, I really wish I could hop onto the M1 train, my Mac Pro fans need yet another round of cleaning and possibly I also need to apply some new thermal paste. IMacs are rumoured. They've shown up in 11.3 betas.
I'm still impressed by the new Mini. With 16gb RAM I'm confident it could handle my musical needs, but I want an iMac.
