Icarus 4 with 4 osc and 4 filters is what i am dreaming for :)
After 12 years sound design i could say that 4x4 is mandatory minimum today, the sound is way more thick with such architecture, especially when in serial mode, where 4 filters driven by 4 osc add character one after another - the result is amazing.
Icarus stand out in the crowd, the way it is now,but 4x4 will unbeatable.
Early Christmas wish time :):):)
Cheers :)

Markus will not be making any more upgrades. Icarus 3 is the final iteration.

If you want that much layering of oscillators and filters, just load up two instances of Icarus (or any synth) in a container rack in your DAW.

Pretty sure in the minority. I'm really not convinced most people would need or use all four oscillators if Icarus had 4. I rarely need more than two for 99% of the sounds I create. There is alot (and especially Icarus) of sound design tricks to make the sounds sound thicker, wider and massive without the need to use 7 oscillators.

With you really need that power, you can go with Parawave Rapid. It has 3 oscillators per layers, up to 8 layers, making it technically a 24 oscillators synth. I never used more than 2 layers personally and I really don't see anyone needing such power, but it's there.

Have a look on this lesson with Dune 3
You might change your mind with layers

Blue Cat's Patchwork is the way to go (unless you have Bitwig)!

Icarus3 is not a simple 3 oscillator synth. Every oscillator group can do additive synthesis, stacking, chords and hypersaw. Technically this means that each of the 3 oscillator groups can play with up to 16 oscillators. One voice can play with up to 48 oscillators with any waveform or wavetable.

as the old cowboy bar wisdom said 'don't shoot the piano player' :):):)
In case somebody is interested, from designer's point of view the 3 osc and 2 filters in serial mode sounds better for fake 3d vibe, than 2 osc via 1 osc,it's audible.
4 via 4 follow same logic ,just add more thickness and vibe.
Made such stuff few months ago.
You can do multi layering as daw mix,but it's more time consuming and there is possibility for phase cancellations ,so on..
Icarus can do a lot of stuff inside of it's unique architecture, using options mentioned above.
Nice working week :)

Sorry not really about the update but I have both Serum 2 and Icarus 3 and IMO Icarus 3 should hyper focus on something specific like the modulation system or envelopes and not bother trying to add more oscillators or oscillator types when the the current filters + oscillators produce incredible sounds at 64 bit FP which is super unique. Expanding on the "matrix" modulation routing (like E-MU's modulation chords and functions) is the one area Icarus could really separate itself from Serum 2. Obviously I don't know the code and what would be required but Icarus already has extremely competitive Filters/Oscillators and even arpeggio. Both Icarus 3 and Serum 2 are best in class software synths and amazing projects.

I disagree. Icarus should focus on adding subdirectory support for the custom wavetables. I mean come on it's 2025 this feature is so basic. All the other synths have this. SMH.

Don't have Serum2 yet, because used with Icarus and Synthmaster as heavy weight synths after my favorite 'lite' synth Sylenth1,but probably will buy it,so to poison Steve Duda's life with demands to make Serum3 4X4 hahahaha :):):)
Cheers :)

You should love F.'em, it will give you 11 oscillators...; - ) Or go modular with as many as your poor CPU can handle...

No worries. Steve’s immune to nonsense.
Its over for Bitwig--CUBASE WON !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love F'em, the only FM synth I prefer over F'em is Algoritm for Reason.

Question about the skinning: would it be fairly easy to swap out for example just the text/fonts of one skin into another? I like the knob style (and contours) of the original skin but not the big blocky text. Would be cool to replace with the tone cut from one of the new ones (aqua or whatever it’s called has nice text)
