lulukom wrote:Attila THANKS!
Explain to me how do so, to create a folder inside  CustomPhrases (in  Finder) became visible in the browser phrases(in RS)?
may be
must somehow make REFRESH? Thanks!
  lulukom
Dear lulukom,

at the moment the only way to reload custom phrases without restarting the program, is going to Settings / Locations, and pressing Enter on the custom phrases folder text box. First click on the text box as if you want to edit it, then press Enter.

Thanks,
Attila

tonedef71 wrote:I was wondering if moving the ".rcINST" files out of the Soundfonts folder and restarting RC would help by forcing RC to reinitialize the soundfont instruments. Bad idea! It just caused RC to crash every time on startup. Once I moved the ".rcINST" files back into the Soundfonts folder, RC did not crash anymore on startup.

Also, after editing a new or existing composition and then pressing the close window button in the upper-right corner, RC just immediately closes. Should RC be prompting me with the option to save my edited work before quitting?
Hello Attila:

:?: How do new .SF2 files get registered with RC and have their .rcINST file created? Should one be able to delete the existing .rcINST files to force RC to recreate them without the software crashing on startup?

:?: Also, should RC be prompting a user with the option to save his/her edited work before quitting?

Cheers.

Hi Tony,

I fixed the crashing bug today when you deleted existing .rcINST files. You can register soundfonts under Settings / Soundfonts.

Yes, RC prompts the user to save his/her edited work if the "Auto Save Composition Before Quitting" is turned off under Settings / Miscellaneous / Editing.

I also fixed instrument selection bugs reported in this topic (thank you!). So a new update is available (v2.8b10) but for windows only at the moment. It will be available for OS X hopefully tomorrow because the OS X version had other problems too.

Thanks everyone for your help!

Who could say that Attila is not reactive?

I've even not had the time to install the b9 that already arrives the b10!

Excellent. I look forward to downloading and trying out the new beta when I return home this evening.

Ah. That does make sense (why bother prompting the user when the user has already opted-in for the auto-save functionality?). One caveat I see with this behavior is that a user might forget about the auto-save setting being enabled and then think that he/she can just quit out of RC to revert back to the original unaltered composition. In that case, I think I might actually prefer that the auto-save instead create a differently-named file (e.g. MyCoolSong.rcComp => MyCoolSong_WIP.rcComp).

Hi Attila!
Unfortunately, I and has not waited you to answer the questions
in my post (bug reports / Thu Dec 04, 2014 10:31 am) ...
I am currently experimenting with a new phrase browser and ...
now my view of phrases in phrase browser (I tried several times to rename them and group) looks like all the phrases of the same name ...But it does not matter! Please explain how to make it look the same browser as a form of folders in Finder!
And how to return the folder view on the default value? That is to say all I want to cancel the renaming and regrouping!
Thanks!
Sincerely lulukom
PS Reboot custom phrases without restarting the program, as you wrote to me to work, but does not return view to the default folder browser or view the folders in the Finder!
PS 2 I have just returned default values erasing settings file in Finder / Documents / rapidcomposer / setting V2 !
(a bit hard))))

Hi lulukom,

I need to add a button to reset all group/display/sort settings.
The default settings:
Group By: {group}
Sort By: {group}/{name}
Display As: {namewithlength}

I fixed most problems that you found - filtering and adding tags work now, and the bug that you found earlier about some notes not being heard during playback is also fixed.
I want to upload a new update today in a few hours.
Sorry about the issues, this was the first OS X beta build. I am using RC on OS X for hours without any issues, so I hope it will work much better than the last version.
Thank you for your valuable feedback!

Hi lulukom,

now you can download the new beta!

Changes in v2.8b11:
- "Reset browser options" button added to phrase/instrument/progression browsers
- the problem when notes were randomly quiet during playback is fixed
- fix time display when using the new midi-only sequencer
- [OS X] adding a tag made the program hang (fixed)
- [OS X] search field works well and the list is updated for each keypress

Thank you for your patience! :tu:

Yes, Attila, thank you!
I downloaded b11-
preview is not working (in browser phrases) to play with General MIDI (external), but it works with instruments SF 2

And please make it possible to assign tags to a group of phrases (in selected phrases)! If I have a 1000 bass phrases, how to assign tags each phrase?
thanks you

Ha - ha - ha! Today I can not stop!))
In the preview (browser phrases) need transposer octave (I came across a group of very low-sounding phrases ... They are absolutely impossible to listen!
Thank you for your attention!

Phrase search with a magnifying glass at the bottom of the window (browser phrases) works well and clear! In the preview, you can now add tags to each phrase, but as
search for phrases with tags? When you type a tag name in the search box, the search for the tag is not made! Then how to search for tags? Did tags are not made for this?
Thanks!

It works when you send the preview to a MIDI channel, but now I see it does not work when the preview instrument is MIDI. This will be fixed now.

You can select them, right click, and you see "Common Tags" in the pop-up window. You can add tags which are added to all selected items. Similarly you can remove common tags from multiple selection.

Good idea, a transpose menu could be added. Maybe not for v2.8 but in the following bug fix update.
lulukom wrote:search for phrases with tags? When you type a tag name in the search box, the search for the tag is not made! Then how to search for tags?
Right, when you type, it searches by names only. You can type an expression, like {tag}!="" if you want to display all phrases with a tag. (Replace 'tag' with your tag name).
A tip: you can display the tags if you type {tags} in the browser options 'Display As (2nd line):' field.
Similarly you can filter phrases by length. To display long (>8 beats) phrases you can type this in the search field: {length}>8

Thanks for the quick feedback!

Hi Attila!
Thanks for the answer!
right click, and you see "Common Tags" in the pop-up window
No, I see only one pop-up menu where you can add a tag to only one phrase ..
common tags I do not see !
And yes, manipulations with mathematical formulas for working with these tags (when you do music) just not for me ... Maybe later possible to make the pop-up menu, which will be possible to simply to select the assigned tags?

And now I've created in Finder / Documents / RapidComposerv2 / CustomPHrases new folder called X !!! I have a chance to ever see this folder in the browser phrases?
And how to make renaming phrases?Or only one?
How to move a phrase from one folder to another?
These issues there would be no if all could have been done in the Finder, and then see the results in RС.

But now I'm more interested in this question:
For example, I have two tracks - bass and chords!
How are priorities the impact of scales and chords in the master track to track chords and bass track in the composition ?
What greater impact on the bass track, master chords or master scales ?_
What a great impact on the chord-track , master chords or master scales ?_
Is it possible to change these priorities? This is very important, for example, because my track chords are often very far (modal) from the harmony which I originally conceived a ...
Maybe I should not ask these questions, and I need to have to see a psychiatrist_))))
Thanks!
Sincerely, lulukom!
PS And I'm really looking forward to the opportunity to create chord rules and chord progressions using MIDI controller, as well as jazz chord rules!
