And I'm sure that even if this had worked perfectly, the vast majority of downloaders would still have never bought anything from them. People like free stuff and a company that thinks it's going to generate significant sales with a promo like this is living in cloud cuckooland. I believe Arturia were genuine in their intentions to offer up something for World Music Day, fully aware this would probably cost them more than it made them (in bandwidth fees etc).whyterabbyt wrote:to be fair, a fairly large number of people who did get it will probably never buy anything from them either.sonicpowa wrote:People that didn't get it will be really furious and never going to buy anything from Arturia (that was my thoughts too when closing time was near).

Patience is a virtue. Everyone seems to want everything RIGHT NOW. I must of clicked on my links fifty times and had pages time out, and couldn't be reached, but on the 51st try, we had liftoff....
(And it was very much worth it..)

But your PC could display PHP "Captcha" content. My iPhone couldn'tTristezaOrange wrote:I have learned that by assigning the blame to everyone but yourself you don't get ahead in life. Accept the full responsibility for this - I sat at my browser refreshing every 10 seconds because I really wanted this plug-in and I finally got it. I was busy too - but I made it happen. And you could've done it too. It's not Apple's, Safari's, Arturia's or Arturia's servers' fault. Seriously. Claiming otherwise borders on comedy.benjamind wrote:I won't blame Arturia - I blame their web servers. Many web servers do not have enough capacity to service 1000s of simultaneous requests.
I presume Arturia underestimated the load that would be placed on their web servers.
I absolve them of any fault. Nevertheless I am still upset that they would not accept a registration from me because I was using an IPhone and could not see the "Captcha" so could not type the magic letter/number. Apparently IPhone does not handle PHP very well or at alla very big **** you to Apple for their shitty iSafari browser...
So, to rephrase this, perhaps a grace period would have been nice. But really I blame Apple for this, by the time I was able to convince my boss to use the Windows work PCs...well, you know...t'was too bloody late...website DOWN for the count! I suppose I could blame my boss for not letting me use the PC during morning tea when I kindly asked him...lesson - DONT TRY to get stuff on an iPhone and make sure you use a WINDOWS TABLET instead!!!!!!
What time limits did you have? I was screwed after 10 minutes...i had to get off the work PC even at lunch
Fact of the matter is it was not my fault and I refuse to accept that. It was out of my control so how can I take responsibility? Its nor like I had any control or power in this situation.
Also, anyone care to explain, as per one of my previous posts, why Arturia set the clock back. Wednesday 8pm it said 4 hours to go. Thursday morning at 6am it says 2 hours to go...time machine anyone?

Hello all,
Here is Denis from Arturia.
Message to the ones of you who went through the FB app and received an e-mail with an activation code:
If you face problems downloading the installer (because our servers and ftp are heavy loaded) then you can use the Torrents download. Just send an e-mail to this address to receive the Torrent links:
minimoogvoriginal@arturia.com
All the best,
Denis

It looked like I got a lot of similar links, so I don't understand why someone can't upload a copy somewhere (without an activation code) and be done with it.
I mean, your download isn't dependent on the activation code you get, is it?
(help me understand this)

Of course it is entirely your own fault. 100 %.benjamind wrote:I really am upset by this whole thing. It's been so far nothing but a massive load of stress through no fault of my own.
I'm going to give you a gift that is worth a lot more than a free plugin, should you choose to accept it.
If you really think about what you're doing,i mean really think about what you're doing. Ponder that for a minute......
You realize that you don't get nervous or stressed out. You make yourself nervous or stressed out. And if you make yourself nervous or stressed out you can stop doing that and you won't be anymore. So really think of how you make yourself nervous or stressed out and simply stop doing it. It isn't easy and it takes some coaching but it is possible,i know because i have done it myself.
Unfortunately i couldn't give you the gift of time, the most precious gift (because it's the only thing you have an finite amount of. Everything else you can get more of but when you're time runs out,it's done) but i would, if i could have.

Got my download link and codes, but a word of warning, I had to click the download link and retry it a dozen or so times before it'd download, it kept giving null files of 0kb. Understandable really as their servers are probably getting whacked right now.
It's downloading... VERY slowly

I confirm that the activation code will activate any download of the Minimoog V Original.
Cheers,

Just so other folks know, I did the facebook thing yesterday morning and only got my activation email just now. No issues with the installation etc. so hang in there and your moogery will come true. It's a cool synth with a nice sound and a pretty darn stunning give away. Cheers Arturia!
It's a bummer for those who missed out due to the technical meltdown, genuinely sorry you couldn't grab it.
To the anti facebook brigade, I'm afraid that's the cost of having principals. Sometimes you've got to tickle the bear to get the porridge... (tickles bear furiously)

Hi Denis,
would you have any problem with someone hosting the file so perhaps people who got activation codes could download it?
I don't have any space, but there's many generous people here. Of course, Arturia would not be responsible for any tomfoolery (stick that in Google translate
)
If not, I can understand why.
Never hurts to ask, I always say.
(PS - This makes me want the SEM, so bad...
