mbncp wrote: When the clock is set to internal, the EZ will send 24 clock messages every beat (quarter note), so it's a good idea to set the clock to external, this will also prevent from starting the demo or play modes accidentally.
But this has nothing to do with sysex ;)
Oh, I thought synchronizing is done by little cute realtime SYSEX, "streaming" from one with clock set to internal :)

Real keyboard, with white n' black keys

MS-- no comment! What does this mean for the project???

The idea was to write a virtual MIDI driver (like yoke, maple, loopbe,..), but specific for the EZ.

The problem with the vst-midi plug is that not all host support vst-midi and sysex (I still need the sysex at some points). So the idea is to convert the fret down/up, velo and some other stuff in the driver.
The driver would also work as a standalone app, like the scripts right now. And it would have two outputs, EZ Raw (to be used by a plug) and EZ Processed ( to be used without a plug). Would make it also easier to select the right port in your host.
Using the 'converted' sysex would allow to record the 'raw' data and use the plug to convert to processed events (Sonar, eXT, ..), so you can adjust parameters after recording too.
Also, converting the 'raw' events to note on/off makes it easier to edit than mixed notes/sysex events.
This can also be made using a normal windows app, but then the app does not know (by itself) if it should send raw or processed events.
And using a virtual driver, makes it a little more confusing, and more chances to get unwanted loopback events.
The idea was just to make things easier to use and something that would work with 'almost' every host.

Hey, glad to see there's so many people into this thing....my uncle has the EZ-AG, pretty nifty for $200, I think it would make an awesome altnerative controller for my synths if I set them to omni. I see there's supposed to be an EZ-EG (Electric Guitar) with whammy as well, but I can't find it for sale online anywhere, what's the dealio? Is the EZ-AG pretty much the same -minus whammy bar?

No ... it is not really the same thing ... read the above few posts (Last couple pages of this thread) .... warza compares them, as others have a bit in the thread already, and i think most of us are liking the EZ -AG better for reasons explained above. (better string sensitivity #1 reason)

I am playing mine alot here lately and it is so cool for some things ... I use it more for Orch and other pad and synths etc than i do for a Guitar controller. (although you can't beat it for playing in Chords and strums from Guitar note Samplesets.... Meaning if you want to program in strums ....look out... the EZ will do it ..providing you can strum the chord ;-) )

But best for me......
It is so cool to play a Big Orchestra Patch on theses EZs ... wooohooo ... I get so lost.

Andrews' Strings video on his Website shows that a bit.. Build a big Orch String Instruments Patch ... play full guitar power chords (Just regular bar g and A chords etc) .... Throw in a few notes ...Look out :-) It is almost .,..and i repeat almost like ...Uhmmmm ... Dairy Milk Chocolate ;-)

Being a Guitarist .,....I am able to play much better Orchestra parts on the EZ than i can on my keyboard controller ... Really ...freaks me out how good i sound at Big Orch on my EZ ... hehe ;-)

Thanks, found the criticisms of the EG. Too bad, the string sensitivity is what I like most about the EZ-AG, very expressive. The EZ-EG looks better, but hey, that's why spray paint and decals were invented. :) I wanna use one as a kind of oberheim strummer with my hardware synths. How do you get past the 1-6/E-high E midi channel limitation? Just set the rcving synt to Omni?

I would love to see the "maha1.mov" movie (where mbncp/Marc uses the FBC1010 foot controller for vibrato - see url below), but the url links to a mere 3k "maha1.mov" file that can't be played. Have you moved the movie, or posted it somewhere else?

We don't need no stinky whammy bar :uhuhuh:

EZ-AG users are PROS that use their fingers instead :

It's really not worth the 2+ mb download.
But the link should work now ;)

sorry of my bad english!
my problem is, if I record a midi-sound with my ez-ag, I don't want to record the sound of the fret itself (each press on a fret makes his own sound). how can I turn the sound of the fret out, or what can I do to make this sound to disappear?
I hope, that anyone can understand my problem!

thanks for your help!

I have not read all of this thread, but this looks like what I have been looking for. I have a few questions.

I really want a midi controller, but I am more interested in guitar than piano. I would be able to use this in FL Studio?

Also, the EG looks nicer. What are the biggest differences in the AG and EG? Are there more options with the EG?

Finally, what would I be missing out on by not getting a piano style midi control? The EG looks more like what I want and is in the price range I was thinking of spending.

Hi Mark

since getting a Yamaha 01x none of the script apps work, I get a constant freeze when trying to load either app :(

any ideas what it could be ?

Does this happen when you disconnect the 01x ?

Can you still access the script, or do you have to shut down the process (task manager) ?
