Ouch tapper Mike, that really sucks.
But I have a small consolation for those of us who[se spouses] are worried they own too many guitars already (unless they own 13 guitars, which would be unlucky anyway):

Thanks, I'll survive. Just embarrassed that I purchased, posted and then everything went south after.
Do I need another Tele style guitar in my life? I already have two fender telecasters now. And, as soon as I would have gotten it which I understand can take a month or more the first thing I'd have to do is replace the tone capacitor as they have practically no roll off.
If not for normal/abnormal wear and tear I always thought it would be cool to have a guitar library. You go in check out a guitar for two weeks then return it.
A buddy of mine used to own Michigan's largest music gear rental store. He'd supply to major acts and small ones. Amp blew and you needed a new one, see Tim, Need a PA but don't have the money and aren't getting a good roi because your not gigging, see Tim. Synths, workstations, drum machines.... even starter guitars and multitrack tape recorders.

Baxmusic (a webshop of Dutch origin) does rentals too. Not sure if those include guitars though.

Now my new #1. If I could only have one electric guitar, this would be the one. Worth every Pfennig.

Put it this way: I could barely play for many months, so my hand strength and calluses were gone. It still played very easily when I bought it mid-April. Now, after resuming playing for the last two months, it is amazingly easy to play. This is my electric version of 'run into a burning house to save it' guitar. Best semi I've ever played. No setup was needed, either. Perfect, out of the box. It is an unapologetic ES-335 copy.

Yeah. I'm selling my SG Classic to pay for it. In fact, I'm selling 4 of my guitars to pay for my last 2. When the dust is settled, I'll have 13, 5 electrics, 8 acoustics. I couldn't downsize further without feeling bereft. I'm just not playing 'he who dies with the most toys wins' anymore.

The SG is going simply because I don't play it. Shame really. I'm keeping the ones I do play. Out of the 5 electrics, one needs a bit of work to get working properly. My Ibanez ST-50 was 40 years old last April
. First guitar I bought after getting off the street. So, unless I get someone to take care of the electronics and a couple of other things, I only have 4 electrics.

no point collecting for the sake of it, you're not a museum
the ibanez, i can see why that's a keeper, that has more sentiment.
a milestone worth celebrating
and the new beauty follows another great milestone
and hearing(reading really) you saying she's got you playing a bit more after you've not been able to, man, that makes me happy
you and the missus, keep on keepin on dude
