1.7Ghz laptop, 512MB RAM, AC97. Once I told it to use ASIO4ALL it worked fine, with the occasional crackle on the Kier song (probably most complicated FL song ever). Yes, its quite a bit slower than FL5 but not unmanageably so.

Post

did anyone try/does anyone know,

if a sustain pedal is now working properly?

Post

Sustain appears to work alright. Also, it was crackling for me as well, but then I realized it didn't select my ASIO driver by default. All cleared up now. So I'm off to test it ... some nice little fixes/improvements. I like the "squishy" scrolling. Fun times.

That's quite a claim...

The new mixer is FANTASTIC!!!!You can move anything around, there's icons to place above the names for identification, a pre or post track delay per mixer channel in ms/beats/samples,... you can also disable an entire channel's effects in one click
Then there's this new morphing EQUO dealee....Reverb2 is simple and sharp. I don't even know how to use Directwave. The tap delay style delay bank is quite highly configurable....and I like way selecting a plugin immediately opens up its file in the browser (I think you can turn this off), which now has a search function and allows you to see different file types including fxb/p...

FL6 has very many new , some little and some not so little improvements that I think will keep FLers happy. I don't know about the audio/ recording handling changes cause I dont record anything so good luck there. Otherwise I am impressed with the little I've seen in 20 minutes that I've tried it....oh yeah!!...there's also the WASP XT which looks like the WASP version I saw in another sequencer don't know which one.....

On the demo song (excellent, btw), I get crackles on pattern 23 (drop it like it's hot), which is a simple one-note bass slide. :|

These crackles go away when I use primary sound driver. Also, increasing latency to max (2048 samples) does not eliminiate the crackles.
I think the problem is with ASIO4ALL (but I don't have FL6 yet). It happens to me occasionally in FL5 and sometimes the solution is to open the ASIO4ALL panel and check the "Always Resample..." and "Force WDM Driver..." boxes then immediately uncheck them and close the panel. It seems to reset the driver or whatever flaky that is going on. I run at 11ms of latency most of the time and unless I'm pushing the edge of insanity on a 3.4 machine, it seems pretty solid and definitely solid than any other driver I have (at that latency setting). Hope this helps.

Of course, sometimes I just have to reboot. My Echo card may be fairly anemic and dated at this point. But who knows?

I agree that the FL 6 demo song is a quite nice, well, demonstration of the features. Here's a snippet of the song. Sorry about the extremely loud "mastering" but I just had to see how loud I could get it with the killer BuzzComp CL5 + 2x Elephant combo. :hihi:

Oh, there's also a drop out in the end of the clip because of the CL5 demo limitation.

Cheers!

If you are going for loudness also try TLs_Maximizer in

Yes agreed. I have been playing around with the demo today. A vast improvement I think.
(I picked up CM 95 yesterday through the post with the FL6 demo) I Still have not worked out what the tiny walking man with the hat icon is for! :hihi: (I kid you not) 8)

Just got round to playing with the demo this afternoon.

I counted at least 50 new features in the Ref. Manual for FL6 under the Introduction to FL6 section.

ccollinsmith>> Ok, the way JMC mentioned it, that CM beat them to the finish, sounded like it was ready and they just waited for Tucows. Anyway, directwave doesn't really matter for me since I don't have XXL/preordered it anyway. Thank you for the info.

I like the way you can edit events in the Piano Roll now. Makes using the Mod Wheel in GPO a lot easier now as you can see the event data alongside the notes.

Slight crackling, had to increase latency a bit, but it seems to be worse when scrolling in the playlist. Fixed now that the latency is increased.

I like the sound of Reeverb2. The EQUO is highly effective, but I can see a temptation for making really bad mixes with it as it's easy to go crazy and draw huge distorted EQ ranges, so I'll try and resist using it. :hihi:

I was able to completely remove my crackling etc issues (during window movements and other stuff etc etc.) and still keep my latency low by setting the ASIO priority to highest .... everything is working as before now for me so far.

where's that?

Post

Well well well...I just installed the FL6 demo on my main audio PC (tried the demo on another machine before)and it picked up my reg code for FL5 (lifetime updates) so FL6 is now fully functional! 8)

I thought I would need a new reg key at least. I guess lifetime upgrades eliminate the need for this. :D

I might pick up the Directwave sampler separately as I have the Producer edition.

Sorry verstaerker our posts hit KVR within minutes of each other...

The icon is in the third column from the right and fifth down in the icon listings in FL6. No idea what it is for, maybe some sort of step sequencing reference for FPC or just a bit of humour from Gol and co. :D
