HEY!, this picture of edison above looks just like the one in the other thread you posted shamann, so... Edison is a slicer, how does it stack up to the other slicers in the slicer thread

Looking interesting for sure.shamann wrote: You might want to have a look at IL's Edison. Still a few performance issues that I hope are easily fixed, but it records, lets you do destructive edits, has some neat playback options and, and supports drag and drop for use with another sampler.
Won't buy anything new for a while though I think. I've got heaps of stuff I haven't even looked into once (I must've opened Reaktor 4/5 like about 10 times at best since when I got it with Komplete).
Unless someone's really doing my killer drum/slicing machine, that is.

For the price it can't be beaten for sure. The interface is a bit clumsy though, controls and display are small and such.stale bread wrote:sascha whats your take on the ext sampler slicer?
Also, replacing samples isn't as nice as it could be. I'd love some "preview in context" functionality, a la DR-008 or Battery.
Honestly, I never used it much, but that's primarily because I'm sticking with what I'm used to for now. ReCycle, EXS24 and Battery that is. Or GURU, for something more experimental.

Simmy would you mind going through your process a bit, how imediate is everything for you and what's the 'layer'

well what i usually do is....
get my sample
I usually chop it up in recycle
I export all of the chops into an EXT sample Layer
(Layer is the level in EXT sampler where the sample resides)
For each chop I map it to a midi key or range of keys
Each chop can now be a one-shot or loop w/looping points
Within Ext I can then add effects and modulation to eah chop
Sounds like alot but it is very powerful to me

Everything is immediate once the work is done. Doing using Recycle is great, but any audio editor will do, just split audio by markers. This can also be done in EXT using the slicer. The thing about slicer if I remeber correctly, is that after you slice and want to use a slice as a loop, it loses the loop points or some stuff like that
