Good point, thanks a lot for your response

FWIW I now tried both plugin versions and they show the same behaviour - so I guess I must be doing something wrong... :?

Is anyone apart from Aleksey able to see more that two channels in eXT?

It seems that eXT reports VST version 2.2. I cannot allow plug-in to report 8 channels to VST 2.2 hostsas I remember that some hosts do not correctly support free-form input/output configurations (they will fail seeing plug-in provides 8 IO channels). Maybe eXT's developer could report VST version 2.3 if it makes use of setSpeakerArrangement plug-in command.

Maybe eXT does not want to set plug-in channel count? Overtone GEQ supports up to 8 I/O channels - what it will actually use depends on the host version (should be 2.3 or up), and speaker arrangement host provides to it.

hm... as I'm not a developer I don't understand this explanation - just a question:

is the number of ins and outs dynamic? Are they only exposed to the host once they are activated?

First of all, plug-in queries host VST version. If it is 2.3 or above, it reports 8 IO channels to the host. Otherwise it reports 2 IO channels. After that host should tell the plug-in how many channels are actually in use (this is done via setSpeakerArrangement() VST command).

I think it would be best if you would communicate with Jorgen directly about this:

support at xt-hq.com

So nice to see you in action again, Aleksey! :)

Had a chance to give it a quick test run and this is very, very nice. No problems at all so far in SX2.

I LOVE finally having the ability to manage and load presets. Will there be an option of setting a new default bank?

GUI is terrific, and the sound is superb - especially the bass. I know its a graphic EQ, but I sometimes found myself wanting to narrow the bandwidth of the treble and upper mid bands a bit. But that bass!

Can't wait to really dig into it over the next few days.

Works fine with 48K samplerate now. :)

Only problem I've noticed is in Acid pro 6, where the volume seems to be lowered by 12dB. Even with the bypass switch on, the sound is still 12 db lower.

Hi Aleksey,

Tested in Podium and runs fine, just perhaps a little heavy CPU consumption ?

"Bravo" for the channel mapping, it is far the best I've ever seen !
Must I understand that this new 8 channels layout will be extended to other plugins ?

Thanks a lot !

wow sounds like a nice idea...

Aleksey, another minimal usability suggestion:

All the buttons that open a "menu" (preset, about box, routing) should also be able to be closed by simply pressing the same button again. Now it's a bit tedious to always go to the 'X' in the corner of the menu. Especially if the window has been dragged further away.

Cheers!

There is an option for this available already: Set as Default in Preset Manager. I'll add confirmation box.

Bojo Software, OK, I'll check Acid Pro 6 myself then.

Yes, CPU use is higher than what you could expect for just 7 band graphic EQ. But as I've said earlier, it is because of 7 harmonic modules. Each module works roughly like 2 additional EQ bands.

Yes, after testing I plan to re-use all this new functionality in next plug-in releases. Hopefully, I won't receive too many 'legacy' support requests (like Cubase SX 1 where I can't offer multi-IO operation with ease).

I'll fix that. So, bmanic, you are a father now? :)

Will the plugin remains with fixed frequencies, or will it be possile in the future to set custom freq (80hz instead of 64, for example) ?
