thanks for all the name suggestions folks. keep em comming!
you've given me a bunch of good ideas.

as a bonus, i am going to be including this handle little morphing multi effect with the percussion synth. the synth has 4 stereo outs to allow for more flexibility with external processing, so i thought it would be cool if i included some.
here's what its got:
- granulation
- distortion/downsampler
- low pass filter
- dual delay
- morphing control of the grain and filter vectors
- stereo signal path
this thing sounds quite cool with the percussion synth and, of course, since its a seperate vst you can use it on anything.
...and yes, i need a name for this effect too.

Now release this beastie!

Now release this beastie!
We shall see orchestral machines with a thousand new sounds, with thousands of new euphonies, as opposed to the present day's simple sounds of strings, brass, and woodwinds. -- George Antheil, circa 1925 ---

morf
Or, you could just release it as Impact then change the name to tmdmfkai, (like Prince), which i'm sure you'd agree is pretty damn catchy.

"Morphy" for the synth.
"Morphy's Law" for the fx.
Apparently there's a dnb act called morphy, but I haven't found any piece of software or vst with that name... I previously considered Morphology (neat partner to metallurgy) but it's taken: http://www.zero-g.co.uk/index.cfm?articleid=787
