Some of these loops seem quiet because they weren't normalized. The tracks they were edited from were normalized, but I kept the individual loops at their natural level. This is because I myself don't like it when I have to adjust the individual volume of each loop when working with them. This way, you can use all of the loops in one folder together and the volume balance between them will be just like if I had actually recorded the track for you.
Also, there was no compression of any kind used on these loops.
The sixties loops, on the other hand, were recorded to 8 track analog tape, and the levels were set pretty high to get that slammed tape sound. Plus, the preamp we used on the overheads was the classic UA 2-610S, which of course has a built in compressor.
