Can I use Version 2.1.1 and the new 2.5 version on the same computer at the same time ?
Maybe give the new Version a different name like Sample Tank25

I had the problems with earlier versions of Sampletank.Last year I used a older version of Sampletank 2 in some Cubase SX2 song. Then I updated to the next update 2.1.1. After that update I couldn't load Songs made with the previous version of Sampletank.Cubase loaded the songs without the sampletank plugin and a message something like "ID mismatch" come. So I had to Install the old version on a different comp and saved a multi with all settings. It was a nightmare.

The 2.5 install seeks to uninstall previous versions on your hard drive, so I don't know if that's feasible.

I am not sure if others got the same problem as me, but when the older versions were uninstalled I could not load the old songs in Cubase4 correctly,

got a "no-vst plug-in error

after that i re-installed 2.2.2 and got the songs working again

[edit: moved]

I had problems installing
lost ability to get old somngs working after installing 2.5

but am trying to get it all back together...

I got 2.2.2 version back and all my old songs are playable, intact.
Re-entering registration data worked as my computer has not changed.

Still trying to get 2,5 installed properly (hope)

the location where i directed the vst has the sampletank2.x but not the 2.5 ?? or is this a 2.5??

Yes, I think this is the error I mean.
I don't know why IK Multimedia can not make it compatibel to older versions.
With other developers I had never a problem to load older projects :x :x

I uninstalled ST 2.2, installed ST 2.5 and all my songs previously using ST 2.2 loaded correctly.
Smoke me a kipper, I'll be back for breakfast!

Squids wrote: That would be from Sonic Reality since we did the samples for those three products. The answer is that no it won't be for free and included with the product. The good news is that we are making a "Bonus Disc" that you can buy (or anyone who buys ST2.5 new from www.esoundz.com can get it for free during the launch) and it will have some sounds from a variety of released and previously unreleased SampleTank 2 sounds including a few from those to get a sneak peak taste. The bonus disc will only be $99 and will have a lot of nice stuff on it. It will also be downloadable! (if you have a fast connection)
That sounds interesting. How long will the bonus disk be available? With contract negotiations at work looming on the horizon, I'm loathe to spend any money I don't absolutely have to right now. But I really want to pick up all the ST compatible sounds I can.
yes, are these $99 downloads available yet?

thanks.
I'd like to see this question answered as well.

The bonus disc is done and it has some cool sounds on it. It has a really nice "Bonham-esque" drum kit that's actually an alternate version to the one from Studiophonik so it's even an "outtake" that probably won't be released other than on this disc. It has different room mics and can be great for a big rock sound. Then there's also a sampling of other sounds and even something really cool which is a sliced loop map with midi kind of thing which is great in ST because you can technically use a different engine (incl PSTS or Stretch) on each key! You can't do that so easily with anything else. Plus there are some meat and potatoes sounds like strings, world instruments. Over 500 megs! The download version of the bonus disc should be up probably tomorrow. There will be more downloadable SampleTank sounds coming as well including a lot of previously unreleased material on www.esoundz.com

Thanks for the info Squids! I'll probably buy the download as soon as it becomes available on esoundz. I'm quite familiar with the slice loop map concept, as the Spectrasonics Groove Control libraries I have pretty much work in a similar fashion when I import them into Sampletank. Nice feature!

Yes, it's just like Groove Control except that in SampleTank you can take each key/zone and give it a different sample engine if you want. It's not as crucial for drums although if you wanted to time stretch one hit (really time stretch it not just do that repeating last couple of cycles trick that some rex players do) then it comes in handy, also for pitch changes. I've been able to take bass line loops and completely change the melody with stretch (yet retain the natural performance nuances, noises, slides etc.) and it is pretty mind blowing because it is realistic yet it fits your song how you want it to (plus you can quantize the groove, change the feel etc.).

If people like this we've converted thousands of loops into SampleTank this way with slices and midi and they will be available for download (all previously unreleased in ST format) on www.esoundz.com in the next couple of weeks. We're about to explode with SampleTank content here starting this month!

Dave,

I don't follow this new loop feature. I hope you will be demoing this in a video at some point.

Hi Squids,
Any plan to add disk streaming features to the Sampletank range in the future?

Amen to that! If it did disk streaming, the ability to import Kontakt & Gigastudio samples would be a welcome addition.

The loop thing is kinda like this....you have, say a drum loop as a wav file, but it is cut into many little slices (not like REX files...way more little slices than that.) Each slice is mapped to a key consecutively, like C, C#, D, D#, E, F, and so forth. Accompanying this is a midi file that plays all of the slices/notes in succession. That way, when you slow down or speed up the tempo of the midi file, the loop will play slower or faster as well to match the tempo of your project, but without any of the artifacts of trying to stretch an audio or acidized type loop. Maybe Squids can explain it a little better than I can

Oh so it't like a rex file or sliced wave loop in PPRo? I don't think I have ever tried loops in SampleTank. I don't think I have any in my ST library so I'll go and try importing some.
