hah okay so I just found this thread. And I gotta tell my story...soo here we go... <cue intro them>

Saga of the Christmas Guitar.

Ladies and gentleman of the jury, a few month ago I was in a local music store and saw a Ibanez acoustic electric hanging on the rack. A wonderful Sunburst purple color. And I mentioned to my mom I would really like to have it. Soooo Christmas rolls around and low and behold I get a guitar. I can tell by the box as I have never seen anything else come in that sort of odd triangle box. So I open the box and what do I find? I present to you exhibit A

Image

NOT the guitar I wanted. I mean seriously what the heck is that? According to my dad it was the only purple guitar he could find. Now let me present to you the guitar I wanted. We shall call it exhibit B

Image

But unfortunatly when I took the first one back to the store(the salesman got a good laugh) there was a problem with the electronics in the purple one so I ended up purchasing an Ibanez EW20 Koa wood,

Image

Good sound but having a problem finding batteries to fit the thing. And again unfortunately the shop I bought it from went out of business. So while I got a good deal on the guitar it is not all quite happy fun time. But it is mostly :)

In keeping with my current love-affair with all things Schecter, my third one just arrived last week: a Tempest Blackjack. My god do I love this thing...JB/59 pickup set, a neck that feels and plays just like the Les Paul Standard I owned back in the 80's, and it sustains forever.
And it sustains even more with my eBow...can't wait to hear what it sounds like through Reaktor....wheeeeee! :hihi:

(sorry about the huge stock photo...gonna try to take some smaller ones of mine soon)

There was a bari danelectro for sale a Motor City Guitar for something like two years. Got lots of store dings in it. I should have bought that one.

Just played a Fender Jaguar Bari and that was a huge mistake. Now I have to have one. The tonal variation you can get from that box is amazing.

I did just buy a classical. UPS says it's coming tomorrow.

Here's some stock photos of it:

Solid Cedar top, cheapo Shadow electronics, $149. I figured I couldn't go that wrong.

I want to sound like Barnadine and Oddbods Finger - those guys are always writing nice pop tunes with their nylon string guitars.

Another shot

I'll post something soon hopefully.

The first guitar I ever played was an Epi that looked nearly identical to that. Seemed to have old rusted piano wire for strings - but the pickguard was more traditional.

The guy I borrowed it from asked me if I wanted to keep it. It was pretty beat up and had lived it's life out of a crapped out chipboard case.

I remember it had a pup like that, single coil, and the coil was wrapped around a solid bar. The bar had raised sections that sat underneath each string.

Wooden bridge just like that one. Bakelite knob for volume (can't remember if there was a tone control or not)

Of course I was too stupid to keep the thing.

How much did you pay for that one?

I like these, too. Very well designed guitars, especially the upper fret access. The body style is unique, ergonomic, and still kinda sexy.

Oh please tell me you kept it!

Imagine if Cobain had not kept his Fender Mustang just because it was a kid's guitar?

I've been promising myself that I'll buy a really good quality acoustic for ages now. I don't currently own one at all (not in this country anyway) and have been holding off from buying one at all. A few weeks ago I gave up and bought one of these:

Image
Didn't spend a fortune on it, I'm more looking at it as a temporary solution, but I was surprised that it's not as bad as I thought.

$150 or so after I got it discounted, but it really does play OK. It's not a Taylor or a Martin, but I like it. Not a great tone amplified, but I'm glad to be back to playing acoustic.

Congrats putte!! :D I'm a big Dan-O fan. I grew up near the
original factory in New Jersey and have owned many of them
over the years. Currently I've got a blue sparkle 12 string,
a black sparkle DC-3 and a green sparkle 6 string bass that
I've restrung as a baritone.

Squier vintage Modified fretless, just put a set of Fender flats on her and she was ready to sing straight out the box.
I bought a Fender standard fretless jazz bass last year about this time. Damn they sound good!

I gave the Martin 000x1 I bought in february to my brother (thought he needed to be cheered up, and boy, did it help), so I had to replace it. After an hour or so of comparing the two, the DX1 won. I like the small bluesy body of the triple-oh, but the dreadnought sounds much better. Much more bass and quite a bit more volume all over. Mucho, pero MUCHO sonido for the peso. And now I love the dreadnought shape. And my fingers bleed, so it must be pretty damn inspiring.

(...and of course I still haven't seen the PRS CE24 I bought on ebay yet, but more on that when I've played it for a couple of days. :D )
