Well, I'll find out either way tomorrow in LA. I suppose now there is no doubt a new product will be announced - otherwise this video would be a bit odd. Anyway I'm looking forward to the conference regardless of the announcement...

Some of the producers in the youtube teaser were used in their tutorial and producer technique videos so it's pretty clear that it was done by Propellerhead themselves.

And its their channel and Tage from PH is sitting right next to them :)

You know what I hate? A lot? Hype. Excessive hype.

Post

Hype just makes me really pissed off when I find out that someone is trying to sell me a turd on a stick.

Blair Witch Project - who would have thought it would be anywhere near as bad as that after all the hype...

Haha ya I guess that's also good signs.

No, with me it's just hype in general. Even if the product turns out to be good, I feel an obligation to hate it. :hihi: But some (hyped) things win me over in the end and some not. I'm just a fan of more discreet and modest developers (and musicians).

Hype... When I think of hype I think of the announcement and subsequent promotion of Omnisphere. Its an excellent product, but the pre-release marketing couldn't have really been any 'larger'.

This may turn out to be one of the lowest profile launches ever. Props showed nothing at the last few trade shows. Did no previews at all. One vague leak last week - and now another short and vague teaser video one day before the conference. It does seem they are very confident in their product...

Yeah, but a video of people just going 'wow'... I don't know, it just rubs me the wrong way I guess.

Yeah I hear that. I would have hoped for some tiny peek at *something*. But at least its only 1 day away.

Speaking of which, wasn't there a similar early video of Omnisphere? Just showing reactions of people who had seen it. I think there was something along those lines.

Yeah, I think there was. And since Omnisphere is just a ROMpler/synth (an excellent one, of course) I can't get really excited about what these people are looking at. Maybe it's just a burning piano sound module or something. :hihi:

I hope that they will put better live controls in Reason (why not something like the session view in Live) and it would be cewl if they put some Midi stuff in that looks like Five12's Numerology (or even more experimental, some Impromptu like scripting language for algoritmic composing).

While we're doing rank speculation....

I reckon it will be a big virtual mixer - like Reason is a big virtual rack. With Reason as a rewire slave you will be able to use Reason effects throughout, route Reason tracks directly into this mixer application, and record audio as clips directly into the mixer channels, kinda like Live's Session View. You will also be able to edit these in a seperate edit window based on ReCycle.

There. That's my turn. Anyone else?
