Does loading banks work in the demo ?

My opinion is that those people complaining just switched through some presets but did not try programming on their own. Then you will see how many features Largo has to offer.
Yes I just tried them (using the demo) and they sound very nice. Thanks

The Preset handling does suck, something to work on for the next release. Besides that it's a keeper. It's not something that you just got to have but after testing it out it's something that you don't want to give up. I have to save up my bucks over the next 30 days. Besides it sounds good with my new PSP Nitro. :P

Having trouble installing the demo. I have a USB key that I got with Arturia Prophet 5. It won't let me install the license as a download, because it detects the USB dongle. When I remove the dongle and try download the license, I get a BSOD.

I recommend making an installation manual for the demo.

Quick update, I disabled my firewall as was able to download the demo.

BTW absolutely extraordinary sound. The first soft synth that got that 3D raw sound. Will wait around for D-CAM to see how it compares.

EDIT: the impressive sound is most likely mainly coming from the dual sub-oscs which create a nice rumbling low end, typical for hardware synthesizers.

Tried the demo and here are some initial thoughts. The filters sound very unique and the sub osc. The presets are not impressive TBH. However, Largo is quite easy to be programmed with the well-thought UIs and clearly displayed modulation. The effects sound funny and add little to the raw sounds. I would pay 200 bucks for all the pros but 299 is a bit too much. There are some good soft synths cost only half of that. Overall I am a bit underwhelmed by Largo.

Still thanks for providing the demo version.

Yep, curiosity compelled me to demo (I knew it would). At first, flicking through the presets, it wasn't doing a lot for me...but I ran into the same thing with a lot of the Blofeld's presets, except that it had more of them so I was able to cherry pick and find more that I liked in the Blofeld's case.

However, since Largo's interface is so much easier to deal with, I got deeper into tweaking and playing with Largo in a few hours than I did in a month with the Blofeld. Some of the things I liked the most came from starting with Ingonator's PPG 2.V transfers (which are very nicely done - good job!) and using Largo's extra facilities to modify them. The filters do sound very nice when you get them dialed into the right spots, and I really like the "tube" drive. I'm sure I could coax all kinds of sounds that I'd like out of this given a lot of time to tweak. IMO, ImpOSCar and OP-X sound more warm and furry and analog-esque, but that's not really the Waldorf sound - it is its own thing.

Since my main interest in Waldorf is with the more PPG-type sounds, though, I'm kind of reserving any decisions until that Microwave I arrives, as it will likely fall closer to the sound of a Wave 2.3 and I might find that I like its analog filters better. Or not, LOL. Have to wait and see...

Try these presets. They sound better than the factory ones IMO

Has anyone got this working on windows 7 rc1 x64?
I get an error "Syncrosoft Protected Object Server has stopped working" during the install and then I cant download the licence.
Never did like the idea of using syncrosoft.

You should be able to download and install the elicenser seperately. If you have problems try running it in compatibility mode.

my first impression is the sound quality is amazing but there is something I do not like about the sound. It is not for me. Still waiting for Synth Squad... :P :D

Sorry, I should have mentioned that I had done both already.
I've mailed waldorf support, I was just curious if anyone had it working.

Largo sounds great! What really did it for me is how the presets used the mod and pitch wheels, velocity and aftertouch to mold the sound! Such a good feelign after dealing with so many otherwise nice synths that have no support for aftertouch, mod or even sometimes pitch(!). Velocity didn't just change the cutoff or volume, it could impact the whole sound. With mod and aftertouch I could create incredibly intricate soundscapes just using a single key!

I did a rough demo using presets, demonstrating aftertouch and mod, and also showcasing my otherwise terrible keyboard skills. My playing was described as somewhere between monkeys banging on a keyboard and John Goldsmith score from the 70s):

Waldorf, huge thanks for the demo. Does anyone find the GUI quite sluggish?

My initial thoughts:
- Sounds pretty good, not a fan of the presets
- GUI is a bit too shiny / distracting for my taste
- CPU usage pretty high (similar to Massive)
- I don't really like the effects :(
- Browsing through the wavesets with a dropdown menu is painful, is there another way?
