Nothing wrong with EZD.
Afaik OWD downloads come in a pre-mixed (a la EZD) and a more detailed version anyway, correct ?

Correct. The various presets make this an amazing sounding product right out of the box. MIDI files sound just like they're supposed to.

Kyran wrote:Thanks for the long replay squids. I know you guys mean well, and it's great that you are thinking about getting it to work in the free kontakt player. Very little companies make that effort.

I just wanted to point out that I expected it to work differently after I first read the description of the download. Ofcourse, now that I know how it works, I see that the text states exactly what's going on.

I was hoping to give some constructive criticism, really. It's not really meant as a complaint (it's still all free, so how can I complain right?). I felt a bit disappointed after downloading it all, and that's not the mood that encourages me to purchase something. I thought that different phrasing might prevent that from happening.
But if you're happy with it, just stick with it. Maybe it's just me.

I really think it's great that you go through such great lengths to give me a reply too. If you ever get to belgium I'll buy you a beer :)
If you thought it then that it is good feedback. So we appreciate hearing about it. If it was up to us we'd have a full working plug-in as a freebie. That's why I am working on Kontakt Player FREE being able to do it. Although we may just release it straight up for Kontakt without the need of the player... then it could work in Kore Free. We really for sure DON'T want to disappoint anyone! We also REALLY want people to download it, LOVE it and BUY IT! Haha.

The beer sounds good too. Thanks! I would love to go to Belgium one of these days actually... maybe visit the FL Studio Image Line guys or something. I am due for a trip overseas actually. I should do a tour again.

Voted Battery. My Go to drums companion.

Could be nice to use Ocean Drums for our little audio demos :)

Might help to suggest to the underworlds there are indeed valid alternatives to well ...... BFD, EZD, aso ....

The Image-Line HQ is about 5 km from my place. Drop me a line when you get here ;)

Maybe you should give them a couple of FPC or DW versions of your kits while you're at it.

(this post taken from another forum)

You know what really determines the direction we can go? You guys. Whatever you buy we'll have to do more of because we're not backed by any wealthy benefactor or anything. We're self funded from the sales of the previous product so, for example, if we do a Neil Peart kit in BFD2 and it sells like mad then we'll do the Collins-style Hugh Padgham kit in BFD2 and then if that sells we'll do a whole bunch more in BFD2 because it is a valid market for us to justify it financially (even if we want to do it anyway... and still might take a chance but there are limits).

So, for example, getting back to the previous question of whether we can do MONDO sized kits a la Mixosaurus... if we do a few 20 gigabyte or larger sized single kits and people seem to want more of that than a wide variety of 1-2 gigabyte sized kits then we might concentrate more in that area of demand. But it is one thing to request it in a forum and another to see what people actually buy. Believe me, I am into the science of this stuff as much as a lot of you and we do a LOT fueled by just the love of it, (not considering whether the extra efforts really translate into sales or if it is just cool and fun to have done it...) but we do run a business at the end of the day and have to face reality. IS extra special effort like this supported and appreciated by the customer? Does it make a difference? We have to ask ourselves that question otherwise there's a fine line between having a smart vision for a niche business or just being fanatic and eccentric (okay, I am the second but don't tell anyone).

A lot of times we go "over the top" just because I personally want these kits for myself! In fact, that's almost always the case... and I know it was also the case with Allen Sides and Steven Miller for Ocean Way Drums. They just wanted to have a drum collection that sounded up to their standards of audio and to them it didn't exist unless they did it with no expense spared... and that's how these things can exist. But of course if you guys ever want to see an Ocean Way Drums 2 then everyone would have to buy Ocean Way Drums 1! It may be considered one of the best sounding drum products... but it still isn't as popular as others on the market. It even comes with the EZ Player Pro for the midi part of EZ/Superior now. Not yet anyway. But, believe me, when products like Ocean Way Drums DL FLY off the shelf at Guitar Center then that's what gives me the FUEL to tap on engineer's like Sides and Miller's shoulder and say "Hey, can we do some more?".

Essentially what I'd be asking them is "Please stop making hit records for a second to record MORE samples, block out Ocean Way studio even though Eric Clapton was going to book it this week and can you guys mix it too like last time? Oh and do you mind spending a lot of money again for this small niche sample industry?" That's the reality of it.

So, it ALL depends on you. The customers determine whether I can get people like Allen Sides or Hugh Padgham or Ken Scott etc. interested in doing more by you simply buying the product like mad when we do them! How's that for a sales pitch/guilt trip combo? Haha. Just kidding there. But I think most of you understand what I mean. We are probably more eccentric than other sound companies... our philosophy is "Sample Everything". Who else samples all of these drums AND does vintage instruments, synths, orchestral, world, vocal and sound effects? We're certifiably nuts for your benefit. So by all means take advantage of it!

I mainly use DC and would have to add a perhaps predictable +1 :)

Aren't free Ocean Way Drum Kits in all of these various sampler formats a fun thing? Okay so, good news. In a matter of days you'll be hearing an announcement of 3 Ocean Way Drum kit 10 mediums in 3 different formats. Some you voted for and some you didn't even know what possible but it's happening! A taste of the industry's audiophile quality sampled drum plug-in in the sampler of your choice. Plus more from our other series being released (some free some not) in other formats.

On top of that we've go a free Ocean Way Drum Kit 10 refill in the works and we hope to release that in the next 2 weeks. It is in both NNXT and ReDrum and sounds so good! Reason users are going to be psyched... especially since it will be free! We will follow up with some insane drum refills for purchase as well plus some more new refills for Reason that I can't talk about yet.

Also, don't forget that Guitar Center wants to sell those Ocean Way Drums DL Editions they have a nice big stock of so if you want a deal while they have them there I'd see what you can do about haggling a deal for yourself. Remember you get EZ Player Pro from Toontrack (normally $50) and 1,000 midi files from Groove Monkee for FREE if you get Ocean Way Drums (and the DL Edition is over 10 gigabytes for less than $200! It works stand alone and as a plug-in for every DAW!).

Cool. I'm really hoping we see some nice big versions of these kits for BFD2 with lots of layers and articulations. There's already some excellent third party libraries with tons of velocity layers that sound excellent for BFD2, and I'd like to see some more added to the party. Variety is good.

Can I change my vote to kitcore? :hihi:
