I tried it out and I actually did really like it's workflow. The GUI is amazing looking which seems to help IMO.
For me personally, it still doesn't beat the workflow of FL Studio. I got FL Studio down to a tee and I can actually make what I hear in my head pretty much instantly with little to no effort.
I do like this DAW better than Cubase, Reaper, Logic & Ableton, interms of workflow though. If I had a second choice other than FL, I'd choose S1.

just so you know i dont doubt your knowledge.koolkeys wrote:I don't think people were bashing Studio One. They were just addressing claims made by Studio One users about the features they THOUGHT it had, but doesn't. Many people here who were a part of it actually have and use Studio One. Most of us don't dislike it.dawmaster wrote:hey guys!! just wanted to make a comedic somewhat serious point.koolkeys wrote:Ya know that time right when you get home from work, sit down after putting a pizza in the oven, and sit in front of the TV to relax?tomg wrote:Jeeze Brent.... Yeah, his post happened to hit that time.![]()

it seemed that so many people were bashing s1 pro that i had to put my own arrogant twist on the subject to nullify the damage done to any potential user of this software.i really do find this daw refreshing in so many ways and i do use presonus hardware so maybe that is a very contributive reason.(links perfect and nice..like a glove)but it seems i got the attention i wanted!!?lets discuss this subject in a more civil manner i will do my part...boy scouts honor!!!
p.s. that post was pretty funny though..wasnt it?
FWIW, my pizza is ready. So that's all I got for now.![]()

i hate star trek as well.
if your not using wavelab..are you using sound forge...cool edit pro...plz do tell?
garbage was a strong word for the gui's in the daws i still use and find to be very utilitarian for some things.
you are correct..i have no idea what plugins you are using!
pro tools runs like $#!% on pc....thats all i have to say about that!
stick by my guns on ableton!!
you can find better features for the utilities missing in s1 with 3rd party software
i never claimed s1 can do what the other daws can!!
i never claimed to know everything nor that i was smarter than anyone on this forum..i do however think that my knowledge of daw design and impementation has some bearing on the topic at hand!
I apologize for my first well meaning yet abrasive post.

Cool Edit/Adobe Audition. That's as much of a standard as there is in broadcast. Keep in mind that this is for recording and editing. Running a station happens with completely different software, but that also integrates with Audition.dawmaster wrote: if your not using wavelab..are you using sound forge...cool edit pro...plz do tell?
Interfaces are different for everyone. I actually REALLY like the Cubase interface. It's very clean. Others may not. I like the Studio One interface as well.garbage was a strong word for the gui's in the daws i still use and find to be very utilitarian for some things.
Maybe for you. I own and use Pro Tools daily on PC. Runs just fine. I'm not the only one.pro tools runs like $#!% on pc....thats all i have to say about that!
Ableton isn't exactly my favorite host or anything, but it has some cool things. But it wasn't written to be like every single host out there. Saying it was written by 2 year olds is just a little childish, don't you think?stick by my guns on ableton!!
Nobody was arguing that. The conversation had nothing to do with plug-ins.you can find better features for the utilities missing in s1 with 3rd party software
No, but you were addressing those of us who you claimed were bashing Studio One, when in fact we were only refuting the claims by people who DID say S1 could do those things. That's what the conversation was about, and you missed the context.i never claimed s1 can do what the other daws can!!
Nobody said your knowledge or opinion wasn't welcomed. The arrogant method of posting was the problem.i never claimed to know everything nor that i was smarter than anyone on this forum..i do however think that my knowledge of daw design and impementation has some bearing on the topic at hand!
No problem. Fair enough. But again, it was just the tone of the post. Even if you were joking a bit. Other than that, welcome to KVR.I apologize for my first well meaning yet abrasive post.

thank you brent
as far as context i was reading other threads on this forum..again i apologize.
ableton was written by a 2 year old genius in kazhakstan...hahaha!!
pro tools requires proprietary hardware which i am completly against!
I too have and still do use cubase..it is a neccesary evil.
no doubt cool edit or adobe are being used by professionals but if they were given the choice i think they would clearly choose wavelab over the others!

No big deal. I'm over it!dawmaster wrote:thank you brent

Obviously, you can do whatever you want. But it's affordable and full featured nonetheless.pro tools requires proprietary hardware which i am completly against!
Again, every opinion is different. I like Cubase, you don't. Fair enough for me.I too have and still do use cubase..it is a neccesary evil.
Don't be so sure. Do you not think that those in broadcast know about the other options? Of course they do! They chose what they chose for a reason. Wavelab is great, no doubt about it. But it just isn't the favorite in the broadcasting world, and it isn't because there isn't the choice of using it.no doubt cool edit or adobe are being used by professionals but if they were given the choice i think they would clearly choose wavelab over the others!
But back to Studio One, I do like it and I hope it grows into an even more mature host. I never expect it to get all the features that Cubase has. Same as Tracktion. It doesn't NEED to get all those features. Studio One has a target audience, and if they add all those features, their target audience will instantly change. So a good compromise is always good in this case.

I do love the way you dissect everyone's comments . It does help people come back to earth. Kudos to you and Lawrence for not being either a fanboy or cynic of any one particular DAW, Yes it's true they all do have their pros and cons.
Whatever DAW fits into one's workflow.
Cheers

Hi
What a read!
I am not here to argue with anyone, and I realise most of you have a far greater knowledge of this than I, but I would like to ask a question, purely out of interest.
Using Cubase as an example what could you do MUSICALLY that you could not do in Studio One. Most of what I have read that Cubase has would make no difference musically.
I am genuinely interested and have a lot to learn so I am not being antagonistic here.

Should I just start threads about how much Bhajis Loops is better than everything in the handheld world?
I understand praising your favored program BUT most DAW's have their own forum where you can do that. :-\
What gives?

AdeVanEx it really does depend on what you want to do with Cubase or S1 if its making music particularly without too much of a learning curve; then S1 is very very good.
Some of the people who post on this thread use Cubase etc for advanced capabilities, I personally don't do any sync to video and scoring so my next biggest concern was the learning curve, which for me is going to be very small.
One particular substantial tool that Cubase has is the audio manipulation plug Variaudio; very much like melodyne and Cubase also has advanced warping great for stretching audio.
Being a long time Cubase user I won't be binning Cubase completely but I won't be using it anywhere near as much when I get S1.

I never thought I would see the day a breed of even bigger fanboys than the Reaper one's would emerge. Maybe it's time to put them together..

If you start to take general remarks as directed personally to you, you have to start questioning your state of mind and your relationship to the subject.

Yes, professionals don't have the choice. They are the puppets in the cruel game played by their masters.Mans wrote:???dawmaster wrote: no doubt cool edit or adobe are being used by professionals but if they were given the choice i think they would clearly choose wavelab over the others!
