Dunno, lets try it. There's a lot of good free/cheap plugins that I use, so I don't doubt someone could do something great using the same sort of thing. Pull up Superwave D-909 or D16 Nepheton, throw some Bootsy plugins on it. Let me know how it works out for you. There's a good chance the results will be pretty nice. If you make a good set thats well organized I might even buy them from you.ghettosynth wrote:Let me ask you a question. Do you think that you could tell the difference between the demo samples and some other set of samples designed to mimick the demos but without ANY high end equipment used whatsoever? I'm not asking if SOMEONE could tell the difference, I'm asking if you could tell?
Hell, map them to your Kontakt if you want. I don't use it, so all the fancy stuff you'd do with it would be useless and a waste to me, just as you feel its useless to not have them. I'm utterly confused that you are not interested in high quality samples, but rather you prefer to have samples scripted for you in Kontakt.

Thanks Ghetto
Honestly, gear rental in the process would have been much more expensive.
The sampling process was not automated. It was manual, each sound by hand, first synthesizing, then running thru processors to find the best combo.
I doubt I could tell the difference between a diamond and a good fake. I doubt I could tell the difference between real and fake gold. Doesn't mean a difference doesn't exist.
You can try to break this collection down into a commodity. I know people spend $1000s getting drums like these. I know because I do it myself for electronic music, where this sound works.
Dude, you can walk into Walmart and buy men's jeans for $20. You can walk into Macy's and grab some men's jeans for $300... still denim.
Mine is a independent, custom created library for a niche market. I could honestly price it at $300 and SOME people would still buy it. Why? Because of results.
I made it a reasonable price for people who like it.
And, I wrote my letter from an authentic position. If it bonds, cool. Whatever. If it doesn't, cool. Whatever. The right people will find it. Like I said Ghettosynth, this product isn't for you.
Why do you feel the need to hang around something you wouldn't even buy and continue to talk down? Honestly, try creating instead. It's much more fulfilling.
This isn't a dynamic, mic'd acoustic kit. It's an electronic library.
Regardless of anything you post, I'm going to keep making it available, because I think it's valuable. Others do as well.
If someone takes time to post some music they make, I think I'd promise to be open minded, supportive, and constructive. I think the last thing I'd do is promise to be a dick.
You've got an arrogant, negative way. I feel unfortunate that you've landed in the midst of me honestly bringing something I worked hard on to the people. Perhaps you feel a sense of significance trashing others and arguing... makes you feel superior. But, at the end of the day... you're just a hater, not a creator.
There's a concept in psychology called projection and the shadow. It's when you project your negative attributes onto other people. Maybe you're the one who's looking to get over on someone. Either way man, I hope you feel better. Best to you.
I've laid it all out. People are smart enough to make their own choices.
cheers-

I need more time to really stack them up against of lot of the samples I've amassed over time, to use them in tracks with effects and compression and distortion. But I'm looking forward to putting this into context.
Seems you pride yourself on being a dick, even an honest dick. Well, honest and opinionated are two different things. But either way, you're still a dick. I can act like a dick sometimes too. But I don't walk into every situation with that being my identity. I can act like a dick, but I'm not a dick. The option is open for when it's necessary. Like, when someone threatens my family or friends.ghettosynth wrote:
Awesome! Post your results. I promise to be a dick when I review your project, but I'll be an honest dick ... and you can take that to the bank!

Ghettosynth, you got it backwards man.ghettosynth wrote:Of course, you bought them.puffer wrote:
For me, my initial experience with them are extremely enthusiastic.
People buy things because they like them.
They don't like things because they bought them.
PS:
thanks for posting. Seems all this activity
is making people read the site, download the
demo, and check the library out. WOW!
PSS:
the check is in the mail.

Wish I could check out the demo, but mediafire is a (nation wide) blocked site here in China, so can't dl the demo.
We can only use megafileupload here.
I can tell you put a lot of work into this.
Good luck with it.
Thanks,
Michael

Tonebldr, a KVR member -- not the one you'll probably guess -- has demonstrated to me a very strong similarity between one of your samples, "DMD-HrdKck15", and one named "Distorted J" from a pack of 40 free drum samples distributed a few years ago. They appear to be the same sample processed two ways.
Was that pack one of your earlier creations? Were they both created from the same (presumably common) source material? Is there some other connection?

I spoke with a member last evening a bit concerning that sound. To the best of my knowledge, that specific sample was taken from the DX-200 percussion set. I'd have to go fire it up to be 100% certain. After recording, synthesizing, and editing 1,684 sounds, it gets hazy. That one did stick out in my mind though, because I almost trashed it due to the difference in sonic fullness.
Either way, I'm 100% positive that no Distorted J or free pack of 40 sounds from a few years ago resides within any of my sound sources or computer. Hope this helps.
Cheers-
Nathaniel
EDIT: Wanted to be certain. It is in fact D6 from the DX200 percussion. One of my least favorite sounds in the collection. Interestingly, I think the person you are taking about LOVES the sound. Tastes vary, which is why I ultimately left it in.
Now I wonder about the other 1500 I deleted...

Cool. Actually the DX200 was my least favorite piece used for percussion. I had it laying around, so like I said on the site, I was curious if the different analog processing could produce some interesting results. It did make a few good sounds I ended up keeping.
But, I did experiment with running the DX200 bass sounds thru the tubes and ATS-1. THAT sounded great. I was going to give people a few bass sounds as a bonus, but wasn't happy with the looping. That's going to take more experimenting and work until I'm 100% pleased with the results.
Where the magic really shined was the combination of digital drum synthesis and the analog processing. Things like the Elektron Machine Drum and Korg ER-1 took on a new life... hyperbole? I don't think so. I've heard enough analog drum machines in my life to know the difference... these drum machines became indistinguishable from analog drum machines, IMHO.
I'm actually doing an interview this week for a large US based music retailer and their mail catalog. Nothing crazy spectacular, but I'll be talking about the approach I'm currently taking with synthesis and my music.
There are a lot of people using Analog Synths and Digital Effects. There are a lot of people using straight digital everything. My new approach is to take the flexibility of digital synthesis with the oscillators, warm those oscillators with preamps and tubes, and then route that signal through Analog Envelopes (Modular) and Filters... perhaps some analog delay or spring reverb, perhaps some digital FX.
I think the Nebula effects programs I created will be a nice treat for the 997 though. I also just bought a domain for a user forum for the final 997 to communicate on... focused on electronic drum production techniques. It'll be private, just in case they want to connect with each other. I really want the best for all the members.
Here's the reality. I KNOW I could take only these drums w/ some effects, create an entire album, and sell it for many times what I'm asking.
best,
Nathaniel

This concludes the slappyfight.
Ghettosynth, Tonebldr, if either of you wish to continue the personal stuff, do it via PMs. If either of you doesn't feel like receiving PMs from the other, they can be deleted unread. Thanks.

I have no intention for manipulating anyone's emotions (unless someone gets excitement and happiness from using the content). My only desire is to present a well orchestrated and thought out library in a manner that helps someone choose if it's the right option for them. I would not even release a library unless I feel that it's something that brings 100x the value to someone's life.
In case anyone is new, this is the way things work:
A person will choose to invest a lot of time creating something of value. The expense of creating that value is often much more than the price to a user. Many users get together and share that cost amongst themselves. This way, more things of value can be created.
Communicating the value of the creation to the user is called marketing. If you take a look around here, you'll occasionally see some hot chicks, perhaps with a sequencer. Personally, I don't know many hot chicks using sequencers... a few, but not nearly as many as men. Is that intended to manipulate someone with emotion? Perhaps...
Ultimately, I have placed everything for review. There are demo kits, there are demo mp3s, there are pictures, there is even a 30 day return policy in case someone decides that the complete package isn't for them. I honor that 100%. It is actually illegal to do otherwise. Does this open me up to the possibility of being taken advantage of? Perhaps, but again, I treat people the way I'd like to be treated.
If anyone wants to put on a tin-foil hat and shout conspiracy, that's fine. I believe in freedom of speech. But there is no conspiracy here. Just a drum library and some text on a page.
kindest regards,
Nathaniel
