Exactly! +1

There.... Bmanic?!? :-o

I just said I've never seen anyone report a similar problem and now here's you...

...input-quantize (with a completelely wrong factor) by any chance?

No problems with MIDI in Reaper over here.

Not sure. I never changed anything so if it is wrong factor then it is by default. This is a completely new system running Windows 7 (would that be a cause in itself? I hope not) but like I said, I experience none of those problems with FL studio nor Energy XT.

It's a Behringer shitty controller running from USB so it is very possible that the midi messages it sends are jittery as all hell but at least the other hosts seem to be able to deal with it.

I've not bothered to really try to solve it yet as I don't like Reaper's piano roll at all meaning I never use it for midi editing in the first place.

EDIT: oh and just to be sure I'm not crazy, I recorded midi and audio at the same time. Audio is dead on (piano player for 15 years.. I'm not THAT bad :help: ) but midi is way off.. randomly. Doesn't seem to be a constant offset.

Cheers!

Yeah, I don't have any midi issues in Reaper either, since I quit using it... Never had a good midi session in Reaper for the 3 years it sat on my hard drive, but I have 0 midi issues now that it's been uninstalled! :D

Not really what I meant.

Has the audio handling improved for you as well?
My other host is Bruce Forsyth

Things like "random notes" is a HUGE issue, even when it's just a few people.

If these folks with problems reported them, Justin & Co. would put fixing that on high priority. The problem being, they might need you to beta test it while they develop the cure ;)

One thing that love about Reaper. runing 7 instances of Guitar Rig 4 on 128 samples latency and it works great on my Intel 6750 Core Duo.
Cubase 4 sound-engine as an example, start to crackle and the cpu meter jumps like crazy...

If I wasn't a really big fan of your music I might ask why the heck you'd need to run 7 instances of Guitar Rig... but knowing the great results you get it's kind of irrelevant, the methods you use to get there.

This is one of those cases where results justify subjective approaches to production. Dimitar is one heck of a musician.

If Reaper helps you do what you do, and I love what you do, you should use Reaper... :hihi:

LawrenceF thanks for your support,

4 rhythm guitar tracks, 2 tracks for solo guitars and one for clean parts if I need them :)

Well, me suggesting that you could use Cubase and freeze tracks along the way would be kinda silly ... ... whatever you do now with whatever tools you choose to use obviously works very well for you.

If it 'aint broke...

Anyway, I'm not a big rock fan but when you hit that "fusion" thing that leans more into the rock/jazz... right up my alley. Like "Abandoned Place". Great song.

The user interface is flat and uninspiring to use (yes, even with the 3.x "improvements") I'm surprised more people don't make issue of the UI? :?
Actually I use one of the Veico themes and I have modified it a lot and it looks great!!
You can pretty much make it look like whatever you want it to...and customize the menus and the toolbars functionality as well.
I love the flexibility of reaper...I have to admit the longer I use it the more I am sold...and I am used to Logic pro on the Mac, in many ways I actually prefer it to Logic (and I love Logic).
I think they are doing a great job

Actually...you can assign the main toolbar to do pretty much anything (and they appear to be developing that concept...hopefully to creating your own toolbars) you can also have up to 24 buttons on that main toolbar with any actions you want it to have.
I have already assigned many commonly used tasks to that toolbar...eliminating a lot of the need for right clicking.
Personally (and I have seen this on 3d apps) newer software creators are starting to see that the customization and creation of toolbars, workrooms (screensets...but more customizable than either Logic or Cubase) as the way of the future.
BECAUSE...you can make the app your own, you will not have to work to Steingbergs, Apples or Digidesigns work-set and ergonomics, you will be able to create your own.
Dont like too many menus..get rid of them, dont like the interface...change it, want more toolbars...add them.
Reaper is definitely heading this way, of course there is no pleasing some, they will complain that they dont have time for this or that such and such an app has a better workflow (even tho Reapers workflow can be very swift)
However as any app requires investment of time, why not use that time to modify and app to work how you like to?
Having seen the development of this concept in 3d apps, this is a very exciting approach...and although it wont win everyone, to those that use it, Reaper becomes a very productive tool, not counter productive as some suggest.
