No instruments, but lots of hardware. The sampling of the "hardware" was probably a lot more fun than the assembling of the samples into a beat. At least it would be for me. By the way, whoever did that is a pretty good engineer/editor. There's nothing there to show or not show any musicianship.
If you have to ask, you can't afford the answer

You can't make the music without the "just tools". What you wrote is like saying "Vegetables and fruits, they're just parts of a plant. It's making a salad that's the real fun." What's the point of dismissing/disregarding the very thing that enables you to make something?
But that is not really the issue here… The thread is about, 'which is more fun'. What I'm actually saying is, that it doesn't really matter what you use as long as you get the end result. Software and hardware are interchangeable with me.

I'm also taking issue that 'hardware is more fun', because it's totally subjective.
It does matter what you use to get the end result, because without what you use to get the end result, there is no end result, and the end result can be either identical, extremely different, or anything in-between, based on what you use. The issue here is that the thread starter made a sweeping generalization with no further explanation about a preference, and the first post is intentionally a flame-baiting one. But by dismissing/disregarding the musical instruments that everyone uses, saying that the only thing that matters is the end-result ("the music") and that the instruments/tools used to create it don't matter, as if they are detached from the music/end-result (which makes no sense at all), you just create another issue. You should take issue with the sentence "hardware is more fun, it is" because it's a senseless sweeping generalization, not because it's totally subjective, which is obvious.

Okay, but that's not to say the engineer has no musical talent.

Here you go then. No instruments (as much as I detest Dubstep). :)

I will take the Lord's name in vain, whenever I want. Hail Satan! And his little goblins too.

Substantiated...Mic, PA and Harmonica :)

Last time I looked my software wouldn't work without hardware.

luddite.

It depends on which hardware, it depends on which software.

Why would I limit my fun to only one?

Bar the harmonica, since when is a mic or PA considered an instrument?

Oh, and I said 'use both' in my first post. Ho ho ho... ;)
