When trying to play melodic lines I noticed that when triggering different notes, the newest note always starts from the previous note and after a few milliseconds updates to the new one. Sort of like a Portamento..I guess it is probably due to the audio buffer but I am wondering if this could be fixed.

In order to clearly hear this turn off all fx, engage the gate and lower the attack to minimum. There is no way for a new note to update as soon as it is triggered. It is always starts from the previous note (at least on my system with any buffer setting).

In that respect, it is also noticeable that the attack stage needs to be tightened up, and if a legato mode could be implemented this could really enhance this instrument big time. Imagine create tight stabs and layering them with rhythmic patterns etc.

And...for all Ensoniq lovers out there, these additions will basically create a transwave synth replica (finally..)

Just my 0.5 cents (it's a recession)

asking , as you don't mention ...
do you have the 're-trigger' function engaged ?...

The system requirements on the website states, that an "Internet
connection for online activation" is necessary.
Does this mean only a valid email adress for the license code,
or does my DAW really needs to be connected to the Internet while activation
(which it isn't and won't) ?

Cheers
the latter ...
james may be able to provide an alternate activation method ...
i don't know ...

The behavior is the same regardless of the 're-trigger' mode..

Thanks,

Currently the grain trigger clock is free running, i.e. its independent of the Gate mode master envelope or MIDI notes.

You raise a good point though, and probably it makes sense that when in Retrig mode, the grain trigger clock gets reset on MIDI notes (along with sample position, modulation recordings etc). I will try to work that in the next update.

Thanks for pointing that out :)

At some point yes, but no ETA at this stage.

Currently you need an internet connection on the machine which Granite is installed. No offline method is available at the moment (but could be done if there is significant demand for it).

You're welcome!
Great to hear that you'll implement this! It's going to be a big improvement.

Granite is getting closer and closer to sound like Transwave synthesis..the fx sound very similar too. I know that there are quite a few people (myself included) that still have an ASR10 rack just for that purpose alone.

OK, I don't think I'm the only one. My Musiccomputer is not and never will be connected to the internet.
So if you want a buy from me I need a offline authorisation method. :)

Thanks to everyone answering my questions !
I'm definitivly interested into this synth, but I guess
I have to wait for now.
But Granite is really fun to play with, very intuitive
in the way one can get some great sounds very quickly.

Good luck with this one, I'll keep it in view.

Cheers

This typically happens when your graphics drivers are the default generic Microsoft ones, rather than the latest ones from your card vendor. This is a side effect of Granite trying to use HW graphics acceleration. I'm looking into ways to avoid this dependency in future, but for now please check if you have the latest drivers for your graphics card.

I suspected that was the problem as i have been trying to update the drivers since last night and it seemingly refuses to install the up to date drivers even though the install runs without error the driver listed is still the same generic microsoft one! So annoying, have to see if i can sort this out :?

Edit- Just sorted out the drivers, amazed that ati's own driver installs seem to be completely useless, anyway going to try this out now :hihi:
