Another piece of speculation: Stripped-down Logic X with "in app" purchase option for logic instruments and effects...

Post

hm, i'm a logic user since version 1.5 but i think i'll switch to something else :hihi:

I found a post stating that Logic 9 runs fine with Lion https://discussions.apple.com/message/15520586#155 20586
this is definitely not right at the moment.

this is the best statement I read so far...
Why be APPLE's Beta Testers at a cost to your own sanity? I learned a good lesson from a friend of mine that works for Apple in the coding world: NEVER (if you are a pro) INSTALL AN X.0 (eg: 10.7.0) VERSION OF ANY SOFTWARE. At LEAST wait until the X.1 (eg: 10.7.1) version comes out. Big software companies count on the first level being buggy and they count on us Paying Customers to do the first level of public testing for them.

Not looking very good... Lion is gonna stay on my external disk until I check personally ;)

I heard Apple are going to buy Yamaha / Steinberg and destroy the VST format forever, and then rewrite Logic so it only works with a totally new plugin standard.

Everyone will be forced to buy their plugins again, through the app store. Windows users: SOL. Logic users: broke.

Bummer.

Peace,
Andy.

I bet that is how it goes, but I sure hope not

I tried 10.7 on my MBP to see how it got on (write my music on the MP machine really anyway).

Logic works fine, Soundtrack Pro won't open though.

Will be dropping back to 10.6 until there's a specific reason for 10.7 but it was interesting just to have a play.

What about Logic 8? Apple doesn't list it but does not explicitly say it wont work. i've not upgraded to 9 because of no money...

I installed Logic 9 from disks to a fresh Lion install. It wold not run ("this version of Logic is not compatible"). I had to update to Logic 9.1.4.

Peace,
Andy.

I have checked and Logic 9.1.4 runs well so far as well as SoundTrack Pro.

Btw our plugins also run fine :) It's recommended to use the 64-bit versions.

Post

Soundtrack Pro won't open for me, doesn't give a reason though, worked fine before the update to 10.7

everything is patched and up to date.
