I agree with everything you wrote, but after some serious programming you'll see that it is deeper than that.

"Negativity"? That's the only wrong thing you wrote if you think I see that in your posts, ah ah! :)

Probably this is the first plug you got from here, but if you stay a bit here you'll notice how all the plugins started as "containers" and are evolving with huge new contents. You can follow the whole life of Roundtone and StripBus in some threads, they became huge and deep machines. And will grow even more (I stop here for now... ehm...).

As you have seen there are some useless menus in Stagespace. Mainly:

- Early reflections menu (with just ER1)
- Algorithm menu (with just one algo)
- Modulation menu

guess why? ;)

How to help? Just use it (and the upcoming algos) and keep reporting!

Sknote has Verbera and Verbtone which can be very very transparent. Stagespace took the way of delay networks. Can sound smooth or with typical resonances and dissonances.
So the line is: Verbera: transparent rooms, Verbtone: plates, Stagespace: delay-based algorithms (left alone Necklace with its springs).

Now programming a lot of room and hall presets

An idea for very constructive help: some audio and its target. And we'll see how close we can go to the target.

About the stereo image: the stereo modes act on the tail in this version, this is why they can sound similar. This is the first idea: let's link the early reflections to the stereo mode :)

I'm very happy the 64 biut version works fine, at last. This bug made us replace a preset design session with a debugging session :? :hihi:

I'm sure it is. Now that I have a working and non-cpu-munching x64 version I'm going to try and explore it more in-depth.

Yes it is. I have no idea how you do things (well I have some, now, after talking to a couple of your fans on the REAPER forum) so forgive me if I approach your development in the wrong way. The only thing I don't quite agree with is asking for money for a plugin that is not finished. In fact this looks more like a beta version than a useable product. OTOH the amount of money is very small and you seem interested in getting (and acting on) feedback from your customers so I can't really complain.

Some hall presets will probably be coming your way.

You mean like any track with a reverb sound that I like? Or a track of my own using some other reverb that I want you to mimic?

I say let's link the *late* reflections to the stereo mode. That's the big problem right there, for me at least.

Now for a visual nitpick. I think something like this or this would look much nicer than the present look. The cutout just doesn't make any real sense. Quick ugly mockups but I think you get the idea.

No, this is not a beta at all! This is a completely wrong perspective.
Two whole CDs have just been released with just this one (and a bit of Verbtone) as ambience and reverb. Not as an experiment, just because they wanted it like this.

Don't get it wrong, it is not incomplete, it is open!
Don't confuse an exposed development program with "incomplete".

Oh, I meant just examples and a description, something like "this is an audio sample of a great sound, but it is still missing this and this...". You know, today the hard part isn't doing dsp (even the oldest PC at home can work wonders), it is about knowing what to do. So, why is an algorithmic reverb still better than IRs for some uses?

I don't get it. The late reflections are stereo. Split stereo processes left and right.
Stere-mono-stereo mixes left and right to mono and feeds both reverb channels.
Follow the source processes both channels with identical reverbs (so keeping the stereo image).
The ERs are independent and can fool you with a different, independent stereo image.
They have to be programmed together. Or the ERs can just be switched off and rely on the first reflections from the algorithm.

Is there a bundle option for people who want to buy Necklace, Verbtone and Stagespace together?

Post

There will be, we are still at an introductory step... ;)

This is a video showing realtime programming of two instances of Stagespace to give depth and ambience to a mix

Two instances used:

- Short (on drums and voice) - Bright and with strong early reflections - no pitch shifting, no modulation, no dynamic control
- Long (on guitars) - Non linear reverb to make it fuller and cut away the tails, to get a denser reverb without mudding the mix. The reverb time is very long, body control compresses the reverb, fade control cuts it to a shorter duration. The result is a reverb with a fast attack, a full sustain and a fast fade.

Quinto, I am loving the Plate reverb here, this looks like it's right for me! Your prices are so good I don't need to think about it too much either :)

Really love the video

I bought this, I like it quite a bit. Kinda specialized it seems but the biggest issue I have is that it takes a shit ton of cpu power!! I can only run two instances in a typical track and that's like a 1/5th of my processing power on a Q6600.

Do you use reverb in inserts?
Oops... with track you meant song, not single channels, right?

Just for the record Stagespace uses 1.5% cpu on my system (@96khz), which is exactly the same amount that Aether is using. So it's definitely on the heavier side of reverbs and I can see it being a problem with older computers. But I like what I am hearing and I am willing to sacrifice some cpu cycles for the sound. So maybe if your computer is 5 (or more) old, maybe it's better not to expect every new plugin to have a low cpu usage on your system.

To put it short Stagespace is such a beautiful reverb. I would definitely put it in the same league with Aether and Vroom (and redline reverb that I am demoing atm) which I also like quite a bit. But it's very different from any of them.

In my opinion one of the strong points of Stagespace is how good it sounds when it's used for acoustic instruments like piano for example. It just wraps itself around the sound instead of sounding like a separate layer of processing. I really like the detune parameter. With longer reverb tails and a bit of detune it's possible to make a very warm and drifting "dream" sounds. IMO this Stagespace is a steal at this price.

I regret for not checking SKnotes reverbs before. I have underestimated them because of the lack of presets.
And of course the lack of product demos can be a bit of a turnoff too.
But all SKnote reverbs are easy to use it's possible to get them sound good with just a few tweaks. So I don't see the lack of presets as such a big problem as many others do. I've build my own set of presets in a very short period, and my preset library will only grow whenever I use it for new songs.

I have to mention that I also like Necklace and Verbtone too. Necklace is actually one my favorite spring reverb emulations. My spring reverb void has definitely been filled with the Necklace.

Thank you for these high quality but affordable tools. I can hardly wait for the next SKnote products.

Two banks of presets available on the web page.

Just uploaded a set of 20 halls.

Uploading a set of 20 rooms :)

These are banks in Cubase format. Converting to other formats.

Yeah, I mean track as in song. I assume anyone getting reverb usage in the 1.5% range means that they've got a i5 2500k or above. I'm going to try to get an amd fx-8350 and then overclock so I can get on that level...

I use an old dual core in the studio and can finish a mix without bouncing tracks. I use two or three reverbs in a song, though (no more).

These presets could need fine tuning (color, sparse and mainly delay times) because of short times and phase relationships depending on the track content.
