iPad X rumours

I was wondering: is the touch aspect of the new iPad any different from the iPad 2? In other words, is the resolution of the touch screen higher in the new iPad, or is it the same as the iPad 2?
That could make a difference with touch-based keyboards and touch based guis on some of the iPad synths.

Oh good, that lets me rest easy. I was wondering if there would be something that made me spend more money that I don't have. I still love my iPad2.polaris20 wrote:I was dreading it at first due to Gizmodo having a lot of lingering butt-hurt towards Apple, but that was damn funny!
I've got the new iPad. The screen is great, it feels nice and fast, and overall it's just a bit nicer than the 2. Coming from a 1, it's a significant move. If you've already got a 2, I can't see there being a good reason to upgrade, unless you really want the higher res screen or the cameras.
It's basically evolutionary; if you liked the 1 and 2, you'll definitely like the 3. If you whined about the 1 and 2, you'll still be whining about the 3.

Yeah, I think you're fine, IMO. In fact my co-worker ended up buying his son a 2, just because at $399 it really pushed him over the edge to get one, and the 2's screen still looks fine.martygras wrote:Oh good, that lets me rest easy. Getting the 3 with the higher res screen did save me $100 on a Kindle though, as between the resolution and the new Kindle app I've no longer got the itch for one of those.

I haven't yet noticed it running hot.sonicflux wrote:Are you experiencing any issues with the new iPad running uncomfortably hot? That's about the only complaint I've heard so far.

My friends just got one, and the resolution is really, really incredible. I'm wondering if they're going to make any HUGE changes whenever the next one comes out.

Seriously though, it too makes me wonder where they'll go from here. I suppose you can always improve the camera, maybe make it thinner again, increase battery life. But what's the whiz-bang feature for next year? It's always something though. Whether it's worth it or not depends on the person though.
I just can't see flipping a $500-$600 every year, just because something got marginally better. But I'm just an average IT guy, I'm not rich.

Some rumors sites were anticipating the new iPad to be quad core, so I imagine that'll be the big upgrade for a future iPad.polaris20 wrote:Seriously though, it too makes me wonder where they'll go from here.

Actually I except more from the iOS than from the Device itself for the next iPads. An official access to the file systėme would be a "whiz-bang feature" for me.
And full compatibility with USB Drives, of course.
I mean if they really want to replace laptops with tablets...

Moderators, please rename this thread "iPad 4 rumors".
