No idea why it points there, but i guess that must be why Retrologue installs its VST2 there. Guess i just can change it to point the installer to install the VST2 somewhere else. That's why i hate those automatic installation paths...

Edit: Worked as expected. :)
Probably this registry entry was added by SONAR (supposing you installed SONAR at some time).

I don't have Sonar, but i have both Z3TA 1 and 2 installed, so either of those could have modified the path too.

Are you sure about that? At least the trial license was installed to my soft eLicenser.

It says so on the Buy page...

You're right. No mention though when you choose the update option. Weird.

Does retrologue 2 overwrite retrologue 1?

Post

It says on the site that you should uninstall v1 before you install v2.

Nice with an update, but that is a rather heavy price.

What was always nice with Retrologue was it's reasonable price, not anymore :(

The GUI looks quite similar to v1, but no doubt it has been heavily upgraded under the hood:

1 more OSC
Arp function
12 more filter types
2 more lfos
6 more modulation matrix slots
More FX
400 more patches
Etc

For 99 euros it would still be a good price (U-he stuff, Dune, Sylenth etc. are all 1.5x that or more), but that USB thingy adds 22 or so. And it makes selling it much harder, should you ever want to do that...

I wonder if you can still use the 70's presets pack by Dave Polock, with
retrologue 2.

I own Retrologue version 1 but never installed it on my new studio computer because of the soft e-licenser. Why install that just for one plugin.

Anyway on the Buy page it does say "Additional USB E-Licenser Required" when on the "Retrologue 2 Full Version" but when you switch to the "Update from Retrologue" page the USB part disappears. Try it..... :?

So people who but the new full version are required to have a USB dongle but people who upgrade can keep their soft e-licenser ? Can anyone confirm or deny that ?

There's enough in the new version (32 step sequencer does it for me) to justify upgrading and even possibly installing the soft e-licenser on my studio computer...........

EDIT: Crap I've forgotten my Steinberg Forum login. There is a thread about the update. When I get back I'll try to log in and find out more about the USB/Soft Licenser issue......

I think it's the same size as it used to be.

The arpeggiator is fantastic btw. Most sophisticated arp i've ever seen in a plugin. Sound is really nice too. Really considering the upgrade.

Yep, that thing is a killer synth :)
And also highly optimized it seems, pretty low CPU hit for that sound...

I just bough the Upgrade from Cubase Pro 8 to 8.5 for 49.99 € (incl. VAT). Cubase 8.5 also includes Retrologue 2 so i will check this and the other changes to Cubase 8 ASAP.
Good that there is an Update installer from Cubase 8 to 8.5 so i do not have to install everything again.

UPDATE:
After the upgrade to Cubase 8.5 Retrologue appeared as "Retrologue" in the plugin list but it is indeed Retrologue 2. Just started checking it. Cool that it has 3 Oscs (+ 1 Sub-Osc) and additional filter modes now.
Looks like the filter modes more or less cover all modes of a Matrix 12 now or at least comparable modes.
The mode "AP + LP6" seems to be inspired by "3Phase + 1Low" in the Matrix 12.

Comapred to the old version Retrologue 2 also includes a 3rd envelope which is nice too.
