Should be here Wednesday. I don't have buyers remorse anymore.

I am a bit puzzled by where I'm going to put it

Seriously though, I'm having total buyers remorse. Usually not the case with me.

I'm sure once I get my computer issues squared away (who the flack knows what I did there  ) I'll be stoked again.
uummmm..no clicky click stuff, eh? :hihi: :hihi:

I wish it were that simple.

I fear my omnisphere joy will be short lived (I mean after it gets here/installed) as after 2+ years I think it's time for a fresh/clean install.

 (but mommy, I don't want to go into the the light........)

Post

Congrats, You'll love omnisphere! I'm thinking about a fresh install too.

some pros and cons

1) a powerfull synth based partial on Chrystal.
2) a huge collection ofsoundsorces, mostly from Spectrasonics classic libraries.
3) a great gui, which both allows for simplicity and complexity.
4) well thought out feautures, which are handy as a live instrument
5) good integration with Stylus RMX in the kick ass arp.
6) a good patch library for the preset riders
7) ipad integration to further the live feel
8) easy harware integration with midi learn
9) inspiration effects section (including the format filter from Delay Llhama), and a great filter section.
10) a good collection of video tutorials.

Cons
1) High cpu/ram on certain patches
2) Closed system with only two (jawdropping good, though) expansion libraries
3) high price
4) no standalone version
5) it takes a while to just walk through the patches.
6) browser could be better
7) no bread and butter soundsources (lacks brass, woodwinds, a straight piano and more world instruments)
8) Heart of asia is for some reason not included in the soundsorce library. eric stated at one point, that it would be included latter, but not so far.
9) overhyped at the release ( not a concern of mine)
10) hasnt gained anyone world domination or more girls, afaik.

Integrates well with Trilian (some *extended* patches use content from both libraries)
I'm also not sure that I would consider the time that it takes to explore Omnisphere's vast patchset as a 'con'-just my opinion, of course!

Is there a viddy or somewhere I can see more about the (I know about the arp being good but not sure about the RMX integration)

Oh, well, then I'm sending it back :hihi:

Drag and drop a file from RMX to the Groove Lock area at the bottom of the Arpeggiator page.

Ah, thanks. I knew about that. gets kinda hard to do that with the all the gui's open imho.

Fortunately for me, I've no interest in either dictatorial power or girls, LOL.

For me, Omnisphere has been worth it just for the vintage synth samples alone. The Jupiter 8 strings and pads are gorgeous and when I use some of the Prophet VS sources, it's almost like having my VS back (it's been gone for almost two decades but I still think of it fondly sometimes). The VS, of course, could not run its waveforms through dual multimode filters pulsating away under control of a tempo-synced multisegment envelope that is itself groove locked to a virtual beatbox (i.e. RMX). 8)

I bought Omnisphere last week and am loving it so far. It is so deceiving deep also. I had Trilian for the last year and that's mostly what made me buy Omni but all the time I've had Trilian I've never really took too much time to explore some of the deeper features. When I got Omni it somehow forced me to really get stuck in with all the tutorials and start getting my hands dirty and am glad I did.

The presets that I've listened to so far have mostly sounded very impressive but generally not of much use to me (YMMV) but there is some amazing soundsources in there so rolling your own is a lot fun.

Spectrasonics really have something great going on here, don't know why I waited so long to get this.

The biggest problem is finding something to do for 6 hours while it's installing :hihi:
