The problem is I'm not the owner of Studio One, my boss is. I've tried making an account, but I can't post in the Studio One forums, I think you need to have a registered copy of Studio One on that user account.

Any time frame as to when S1-Pro V3. will be released ? In the next couple months ? or are we talking 4 months or more ? ... ?

Post

I'd say it's nowhere in site.

Post

I don't think there IS any time frame yet that anyone has announced. This thread is mere speculation of when/if/what it might be. I don't think there have been any public hints at it, so I wouldn't expect version 3 any time this summer.

I would love to be wrong.

I hope your not. I don't want to learn anything else or go through any more growing pains.

Talking about 3.0.
I just turned off the airport card and then start S1. I just lost, according to it, one activation!
Turned on again. Nada.
I HATE C/R SOFTWARE :bang: :x

C/R? My music computer is almost never online and Studio one runs just fine.

Send an email to support. C/R is probably linked to your MAC address and when you turn off the card it must recognise that as a new configuration. Lame, I know, but nothing a contact with Presonus support couldn't sort out.

Reaper copy protection rocks!!!!

At least all companies should have a activation and deactivation automated process, you get a new PC you go to the site deactivate the old one and activate the new one (plus several activations once that most people will have multiple PC).

Those sort of stuff takes a high consideration to me, with reaper I know I can travel 1000 years to the future and still activate it as long as I keep the files, it will be legally open to everyone at that time but you get the idea...

Studio One will not unload the Undo history until you close the song, all those clips remain intact until you close the song, even if you delete the undo history as it copies those clips to the RAM and doesn't reference from the disk.

When you close the song you will be asked if you want to copy the clips to the song or delete them.

If you want to clear the clips you must close the song to clear the ram. It's a program feature and is explained briefly in Section 6.15 of the Manual "undo History".

It is not a memory leak but a function, If you need to unload the RAM, instead of deleting, start a new song or save and close then reopen.

I'm always on line. This is the first time I actually turn off the card itself, not the internet connection.
Probably when I turned S1 on and detected a different hardware configuration, "card off", it reset the C/R configuration?
In fact when I turned on the card again it didn't matter to S1.

Since I need to reset my laptop to factory settings and probably go through this issue again, I will contact them after restoring the laptop.
Hopefully, after restoring, the old activation will recognize the SAME hardware again.

5 activations are generous but why waste them...

DP has I nice one similar to NI (deactivation). Once you install on a third computer, next time one of the two previous PC goes on line, DP will de-aurthorize it keeping the authorizations down to Two again.

That's more flexible unless you fry one of the PC before that.

I tried closing the song and starting a new empty one, but no change. If I close Studio One and open it again it works, but that's not a very good solution. The strange thing is on Mac it works like a charm, even the ram won't load up so fast. On Windows every instance of VSTi seems to use more ram than on Mac.

It works reasonable for me, in 32bit my RAM usage at startup is Approx 24% after loading, I loaded 50 tracks of clips at 30%, deleted, cleared cache and undo history then closed and opened a new song and it was back to 24%.

It did vary slightly when starting more songs however so far it's pretty stable +/- 1% per new song as I tried it 3 times(50 Tracks, 30%) it creeped to 26% and maybe 200mb on my windows Task Manager which would account for background services in Studio One, I'm on a windows vista with 8 gigs of RAM and LAA aware set for Presonus Studio One to address up to 4 Gigs.

It also should be different for others but in my case it seems to work as expected although not perfect but then again I don't normally work on 3 songs without closing with hundreds of clips so for those that do they may eventually run out of RAM and that may pose a problem. :?

If someone is having an issue, then they are having an issue. I don't know what is causing it.

I'm guessing this isn't a deal for x64 users?
