Great 8)

It helps a lot to know that. Back in the days I was devastated when a crack came out. Nowadays I download it, run a quick check and open a bottle of sparkling.

If this was facebook, I'd like Urs's last post :) I really love his attitude and what he is doing. Seems that Urs has put a lot of love to his plugs. Unfortunately I haven't yet even tried any of his plugins, but each day I see his posts on KvR the more I am inclined to purchasing his products. Maybe one day, even now I'm having a way too big VST(i) collection...
A guy with serious GAS and lots of unused VSTs. But if I someday need them...

Because it's obviously more productive to actually concentrate on the people who buy your stuff. You can never stop piracy as such. It's much better to spend your efforts on getting people on board than fight piracy. At a certain point your piracy countermeasures will start to annoy and alienate people who actually do buy your stuff. Unfortunately there are too many examples out there currently where this is true.

You know this can be pretty frustrating for users which don't use cracks
Especially if pirates get a better software experience than legitimate customers.
I don't blame you, and i don't whine about it but at least several times i asked myself why i am buying plugins when people around me use them daily, use them for free, without any kind of punishment. This can seriously distort someone elses moral..
You should not care much about what other do. This is some twisted logic there...
Stop being a smart di**. I am sure that your superb unique life is made up of mimicking 80% of what others do even if you supposedly don't care

I am not saying that i care so much. It's like we are kids in candy shop and i have money to buy only one candy bar while others don't have money at all, yet they steal from same candy shop and eat 10 times more then i can with my money. And they are not feeling any consequences. Surely it will be twisted and sick logic if i would not ask myself is there something wrong with that system...

The ONLY way we wont see a decline is to support the developers whose product's we use.
Its a simple formula...

Good point, but I think some of the old great and more exotic stuff deserves to be modeled faithfully in its own right. Some of the examples would be Waldorf PPG Wave, GForce imposcar & M-Tron, Xils PolyKB II and Korg Wavestation. I would love to see some Ensoniq synths recreated truthfully.

But in general there definitely is too much of the same VA stuff. Everyone tries to create a Minimoog or some vintage EQ or compressor. And then there are those monster synths that basically do the same, but they have 25 oscillators and 100 filter models and 10 page mod matrix etc. These are usually very cumbersome to work with and I would prefer a simple but innovative one-trick pony (like PPG Wave) any day. Another great example would be VirSyn Poseidon - such a great innovative synth both sound and workflow wise (too bad the company suck donkey balls).

But you DO care about it. Otherwise you wouldn't have spent valuable (non-refundable) time on discussing the matter with us.

Life... it can seem unfair..

Some people cheat through life, stepping on others, and get promotions and amenities thrown at them. I'm sure some people have done less work than me and have far more (finances) than me. Some people have even spent 1 or 2 dollars on a lottery ticket and end up with hundreds of millions of dollars while I'm likely to spend 30 years (God willing) to earn at most 1/30th of that amount... IF that amount..

Doesn't hurt me one bit. The way I see it is life isn't about obtaining the most shiny baubles or appearing vainly valuable to others. There will always be someone with something deemed 'better' than me... more than me.. easier to have obtained than I did.. So that route is a failed one before even starting.

You do the right thing because it is the right thing. If your moral compass is not straight around other people, then it is time to evaluate your true morality by posing a personal question, "What are my true, deep-down views in this situation?"

The lure of having 'more' is great for EVERYONE! The difference is we all have a choice not to behave like selfish, wild animals. ..like little gollums with a fancy ring. :hihi: Just because the people around us have made the choice for it, doesn't mean we have to as well. We each have the opportunity to choose it or not for it.

But if other's choices around you are distorting your views, then perhaps it is time to find new friends!! I wouldn't keep friends who are offering me up drinks or are drinking if I gave up alcohol. Same situation here.. if you don't agree with using cracked software, stop hanging around people who use cracked software!!

Like your post in general... but... wild animals are not selfish nor do they exhibit the sorts of excessive characteristics that people often do.
