I'll be buying this soon! The demos are great.

Truly inspirational work! Sami, you've got me interested...

Once you demo DCAM SS you can't retrial :(

So considering the plethora of great soft synths to choose from,
is DCAM Synth Squad worth a blind purchase??

I truly can't remember if I liked this synth or not.

hmm... It's very hard to say if you can't remember if you liked the basic sound of it... Do you have a second computer, a laptop or anything? It even runs as stand alone so no need for a DAW.

If you pick it up for $99 It's worth it for Strobe alone Imo. The deep functions of Fusor can be confusing at first so I wouldn't recommend it based on that aspect unless you find your way around synths easily. Although I generally got Fusor to do what I wan't; I didn't enjoy the process you know? Something about it's workflow or GUI I guess. The manual is very good though.

For raw sounds it's ace, really good especially on 8x over sampling. Fat and analog sounding, but without being overbearing. But then because of it's unison and very nice reverb the pads it can do are outstanding. So fat and rich; as are the plucks and big trance leads of course. And it does this without causing huge phase smearing which makes unison useless. Some synths just have huge volume bumps when the phases come close or something, but this is smooth as silk, just hear the demo, no nasty phase problems anywhere.

I had a little song going before I was working on the bank, it was sylenth1 which is one of my favourotes but you know it's not a fat analog emulation. It was a nice composition and all but it wasn't doing anything special for me, I switched all the parts to presets I made for Strobe and it totally transformed from something fairly static and ho-hum to something brimming with vitality and movement. It's a very powerful synth, in that you really feel the low frequencies, they are solid, unlike many soft synths where you find yourself reaching for a low boost EQ. I don't think I ever did any low boosting when using SS unless I was going for some kind of obvious effect of big bass.

So yes, I love strobe. I like Cypher almost as much however I really like the blue GUI and the simple controls. Less is more you know. But having 3 oscs in Cypher is also really great for octaves, 5ths and so on.

If the demos sound good I have no trouble recommending it. It's not a synth I had to fight with at all to get it to work. It fits in a mix like it knows your mix. It's a super easy synth to work with even if you know very little about synthesis, you just need to watch the envelope starts (not too quick or it gets clicky in an unpleasant way, my only serious complaint about it) and watch the CPU.

How are these Fusor sounds as far as CPU?
Hmm.. Well I have an i5 and all of my demos were done with live instances. Although they were divided up into different projects.

I could usually run about 10 to 15 instances before I experienced problems but the problems were usually with the long pad sounds. I did try to reign that in a little without compromise as much as possible, but I do make heavy use of unison throughout the bank which is partly what it sounds the way it does.

I also use pretty long buffers, 1024 samples.

It's not too hard if you experience problems to switch the OS down to x1 and maybe shorten a release if you don't need it.
i3 here. I have my audio interface set to 512 samples and that is as far
as I want to have it ie: latency which by the way what is yours at 1024?
Yeah I know setting the OS down to 1 helps and shortening release times as I have had to do that on some occasions. I pretty much have Strobe down and have a Akai MPD32 preset template to control it. Usually not a bad cpu hit. Cypher I am lost and have to tweak a lot of presets so there is no pop's and crackles.
Amber I find some use here and there. Like I said Fusor really eats my machine.I have Breverb audiomidi version(lite) doesn't work in 64 bit hosts
but I would use Vahalla Room instead anyway. Your soundset is probably the best I've heard for a wide variety of Genre's.(Himalaya's are great too). Your price is very reasonable and worth of serious consideration. Keep up the good work.

NOOO! I just bought your bank last week haha.

It's amazing btw. Anyone with Synth Squad should grab it (EDIT: even if not on sale!).

Well, I've been listening to the Himalaya demos (esp Antiquity and Modernity) for the last few days. Guess it's time to pick those up!
