If I had to pick a sylenth replacement, it would be either Synthmaster or Mutools MUX. Both sound great and can be used in virtually every scenario.

I tried Synthmaster recently and was pretty impressed, but the demo crashes Cubase constantly and it is a much heavier CPU hit than Sylenth1. Also, I didn't find the distortion effect to have the same character in my brief test, but that may just need more tweaking.

Wish there was more EDM preset support for Zebra2 .. maybe when Z3 is released, we'll see more of a surge..
With the right waveforms, you can 1:1 recreate much of the modern EDM sounds found in Sylenth1 in Zebra2. Only things slightly off are the distortion (whic is really effective in Sylenth1) and the really big stereo spreading. However, the differences are largely minor and the gains in the Zebra architecture are huge (far more parameters).
But perhaps that is some of the beauty of Sylenth1.. it wasn't a swiss army knife of synthesis.. but just enough to be dangerous and sounds pretty good.
In programming Zebra, you have many more possibilities (including waveform import/drawing and gobs of modulators) which is probably why much of the Zebra patch sets seem to be geared for everything but modern EDM.. but EDM features such as 11 voice detune per OSC (4 OSCs), snappy envelopes, an arp, nice delay, reverb and chorus, quality filter (XMF), etc.
That is one other big thing Sylenth1 has going for it.. huge support in the EDM community. Wish they'd steer their love to Zebra2 more
Aiyn.. what about it?
Only large EDM banks I've seen are from freshly squeezed and they want 80 USD per bank.

Sylenth also has some sort of compression going on... the volume is very well controlled and it is harder to get the sound level to distort than in most synths. In that sense it is rather forgiving and I think that has contributed to its popularity.

great to hear I am not the only one! I bought Synthmaster when it came out but could never use it due to the buffer multiplier (or something like that - was incompatible with my Prism Orpheus). Then heard they fixed the buffer problem and now it just crashes Cubase..soundpalace wrote:I tried Synthmaster recently and was pretty impressed, but the demo crashes Cubase constantly and it is a much heavier CPU hit than Sylenth1. Yeah, it honestly didn't take me long to discover this problem. I did the right thing and sent the crash report to the company as soon as it occurred but haven't heard anything back yet.Kindred wrote:great to hear I am not the only one! It's a shame because each time I would start getting into the details of the synth, it would crash on me.

sylenth1 is a hard act to follow. i work with a few great plugins (i.e. zebra, electrax, cyclop, etc). i AM interesed in spire, if they get the cpu usage down.
found twin2 a bit 'rubbery', but not bad. ana...not for me. tried some others...currently exploring curve 2.
glad there's a 64bit AU in the works, but until then... will use what i have...

heres a few free ANA Bases for those that have it.
was a request on our forums for big buzzy basses that ended up in me doing a few more.

also i really think ANA sounds as good as sylenth in most areas... id be up for any preset challenges.

Its also fair to say in many ways it surpasses Sylenth as ANA's feature list is way more comprehensive imo and of course ANA supports 64bit operating systems.Phil Sonic Academy wrote:

I did read all messages and I don't remember someone talking about Waves Element.
Bought it with the $50 coupon we received a few weeks ago for so little money.. it feels like steeling. The synth is even better than I hoped for and in my opinion it can do a lot of the Sylenth stuff. Whatever that is..

Even on a bread and butter trance preset (which sylenth is well known for ) i think ANA sounds better. Im not sure it can get the virus style attack this preset has. and i think the filter sounds better on this too.

Also while sylenth is a very effeciant synth If you do like for like comparison with ANA its not that far off.
set up a patch with 3 OSCs with 8 Voices each turn poly on both to 8 use 2x 2 pole filters on both.
play 6 note chord.
On ANA im Getting CPU at 16% Sylenth 13%
Obviously you can push ANA much Harder if you use the vintage filters and the reverb etc. but when its like for like like theres not such a big difference.
P.S. sorry for hijacking the thread i just have a lot of love for ANA
